POW 11-18-2010

10/10/2010: University Drive (U.S. Hwy 380) at the Grandy’s in Denton, Texas

You’re lawfully stopped at the red light in the only lane that somehow warrants two traffic lights and apparently you need to be told your directional driving options are unrestricted…so why not put up a sign that essentially says “do whatever you want”?

EIR: Random Acts of Culture

EIR (Email Inspiration Received) gives a “hallelujah” shout-out to OFF Jayne for sharing her Handel on culture.

I don’t know a single soul that couldn’t stand for a bit more of this kind of…exposure. (have you ever wondered why I keep posting this kind of stuff…perhaps it could be that I’m a bit starved for culture in my life? Yes! And don’t you know, I’ve been accused of being just that (lacking culture) more than once…usually by someone more hungry than I).

POW 11-9-2010

9/26/2010: Edgewood, Texas

OK, the point is we always need to thank our “Veterans”, and take every opportunity to do so. But know this pet shop’s intentions were in the right place thanking our “Vet-rans” (oh the irony of it all), and also for selling kitties cheap (and ya gotta love the home town creativity of having a Science Diet cat food bag promote the sale)

Hey Katy, Don’t Ever Look Back

OFNi Whitney is a champ at finding odd, funny, and sometimes even meaningful YouTube to share…well for that matter, all my nieces are champs at doing just that. I love my nieces as they keep me laughing and “hip” when it comes to current music (although they would most likely argue that last point).

Below is a Facebook posting shared by Whitters: this young man is just too funny not to keep sharing. +15 million hits on YouTube – you think he has a following?

Perhaps the lyrical content of KatyPerry’s song is not always welcome, but this kid is entertainment (or maybe he’s entertaining), especially the last minute of the video! Oh my belly hurts now.

And I don’t even want to know what apparel is on the bed over the kid’s right shoulder (don’t ever look back, don’t ever look back…LOL).

Thump 10/3/2010

Personal notes from a Sunday morning at Denton Bible Church:

Music:

  • Sing to the King
  • Holy is the Lord
  • Rescue
  • Take My Life and Let It Be
  • Where He Leads Me

Text Reading: Titus 3:1-11

Sermon Notes (guest preacher Mike Scheer):

  • Guilty…Argumentative…Christians are the most
  • Response to conflict: 1) overlook, 2) talk it out, 3) ask for help
  • Ask yourself: why in the working world, Christians are thought to be selfish, immature, opinionated, short on hard work – they make for a bad environment Continue reading “Thump 10/3/2010”

What Say You

Perhaps an appropriate song, especially after Tuesday’s politics.

I’ve always loved this song with its catch-tune and great lyrics…I sing it well in my truck and if no one is listening (but I sure get odd looks thrown my way).

If I silence (or lip-sync) my singing, you get the whole lot better version performed by 2 icons of the music business: Travis Tritt and John Mellencamp.

I’m not going to criticize what I can’t understand…

speak my heart and bear my soul, I don’t like lies, I would rather know the truth…

I know I’m not always right and I don’t think I’m better than you…”

Voted

Done voted today and proud of it. Don’t try to convince otherwise. Here’s to watching our voting voices be heard by new and old politicians. This election day we had 34 choices to consider at my polling place (no propositions). It took me a while to get through each choice as I wanted to vote “for” a candidate and not for “a side” had a straight party ticket vote been punched (who came up with that lousy idea anyway?). I also wanted to vote for the friends I have and know running for office as they genuinely put their heart and soul … Continue reading Voted

Woke Up Limeyfish

I probably should have self-censored. But instead it gotted git r’ done-d to me…maybe for the best…I’m sure…I hope. I cannot remember that ever happening to me until now. Always a first time, right? Say what you think unless what is said is disagreeable. Then just simply hit the upper right hand corner “x” button and that trouble conveniently goes away. Blip! Interesting how free speech really isn’t; anger can snuff out relationships with a few key strokes and mouse clicks; so-called equal opportunity rights of expression in a public format can be judged…quick and dead. Go away! Be gone! Continue reading “Woke Up Limeyfish”

Streaking

After 669 days, my obsessive picture-a-day streak came to an unexpected end yesterday. It was Halloween so I’m blaming trick or treat anxiety in not allowing me to push that shutter button. And it was this Halloween that I lost my craving to carve a pumpkin as well…and that is yet another notable streak broken in itself. Don’t know what got into me yesterday…shake it off Timster! So today I start my new photography streak…I welcome a new day, a new dawn, a new beginning, a new outlook, a new attitude, a new soap used in the morning shower, a new change of underwear, … Continue reading Streaking
