While in town last week on business (sort of), I got to spend time with the FS, FDIL, and The FGs Lincoln! Although he didn’t quite know what to think of me since it had been 6 weeks since I last saw (held) him, he warmed up with some wonderful conversation in no time….
We then went for a short walk (from the car to the restaurant), the FS, Lincoln, and me….
The Princess – a snoot full of dirt from digging in my yard
The Prince turns 3 months old tomorrow…
He is all pup…and all moods. We’re making progress on the house training too (at least I keep telling myself that)
He sometimes gets so tired he just plops over….
Understand that typically I scold the hounds for roughing up my plants, especially when they are just flushing their spring growth, but how can I with this look?
With a Scottie, the ears are suppose to stand straight up…both of them…any time now buddy
And also with the Scottie they dig for varmints…or just maybe they do it just because sometimes….
I realize this is my third post in a week of the little Scottie, but he’s so dag-gum fun…the FD thinks we ought to refer to him as “Prince of Peat” – for the time being, we’re just calling him “Peaty”….
Even if he is still pooping and peeing in the house, he’s my kind of ornery….
He’s growing fast…
And from this you can start to see a personality in the making….
The Princess Zoey? She has fully accepted him into the Royal household…as long as he knows and keeps his place.
If you think of some other name, leave a comment. Keep in mind the Princess as our two Scotties will be called “Zoey and _________, the Royal Heirs”. This Prince will be named by sunrise tomorrow. But I give y’all an opportunity to chime in with a poll of a narrowed list:
We got to see the FGs on Saturday. And of course I took about a bajillion photos of him. But it was this video sent by the FS yesterday that topped anything I could photograph….
‘We sing Amazing Grace right before we go to bed…’
It is with much sadness that the former First Dog, Barney Bush has died. Because of my love of Scotties, the Bush’s loss is heartfelt; because of my own Mackie’s death 5 months ago, I know the memories will soon overtake the sadness. RIP Barney knowing you had one heck of a dog run for eight years.
Losing a beloved pet is always difficult; losing a Scottie dog gives reason for all Scotties to aroooo in mournful harmony.
And it is with much excitement that I announce our Princess Zoey, here a before and after photo of her day at the spa…
The Princess Zoey, with her winter coat still on….notice the tinge of redheadedness most noticeable on her chest and legs?
The Princess always is relaxed (or is it stress exhaustion?) after a spa day, and always a bit shy (embarrassed?) with her buzz-cut “nakedness”…but all is better (forgotten) after a short nap.
…will soon be joined by a Prince, a handsome fellow (I assume) whose name has yet to be decided.
YES, we get a new Scottie pup in one month! Pictures will follow soon.
I remember loving this lady’s singing (way) back in high school. So tonight I catch the credits of the movie “The Family That Preys” and the closing song made me pause….”is that?…could it be?…yes it is Gladys and it’s no Midnight Train she’s belting!” Now she’s gone and got me loving her all over again. Thank you lady!
I know, some of you will be thinking I’m so far behind on this song sung some four years ago, huh? Well don’t. It is as much a song for the soul tonight as it was in 2008!
“…Promise me that you’ll give faith a fighting chance,
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.
I hope you dance….
Since I posted so many dag-gum photos last year, I went back a a couple years and found so other photos that might…could work for this week’s photo challenge. At least that way, you long-time followers may have forgotten about some of these. And you know me, I cannot share just one photo:
Two kids that were unknown to me were found tossing pebbles into the great “beyond”…and it looks like there was a conversation to their purpose as well…
A Veteran’s Memorial celebration and honor flyover…look up, up, and “beyond”…
My dad and two brothers during a shore lunch while fishing in Canada; I’ve often wondered, for this brief moment that their together yet solitary pose was captured, just what it was each was thinking “beyond” that present moment….
We spent 4 days in Austin with Lincoln…and everyone else. He had a blast!
Lincoln get to tooling around, sometimes with Mom’s help….
Lincoln hanging out with Uncle Mark – he “picked” this seat on his own BTW :) ….
Then off we go back to Dallas…just in time to enjoy the hospitality of dear friends Oona and Ettore for their annual Boxing Day party with friends and a few very special young ladies.
This is the second time meeting these neat young ladies, all who have a deep loving relation with Oona and Ettore….BTW, they are watching the Flickr slideshow of last year’s party on my cell phone
Another one of the neat young ladies – the 6th girl was unable to attend this year’s party and she was missed….
The FS, FD, and FSIL were able to join in on the Boxing Day party this year. FS had 2 job interviews in Dallas, the FD and FSIL have their rescheduled (due to bad weather) flights out of DFW tomorrow….
Oona and Ettore (far right), aka wonderful hosts and friends! Happy Boxing Day you guys!
It’s Lincoln…oh yeah, and his Mom and Dad (just kidding M&D – we’re glad to see you too)
It’s Lincoln…oh yeah, and his Aunt Tiffany and Uncle Mark (just kidding A&U – we’re glad to see you too)
What a clean-cut kid! (doing some naked-time after his bath – “Boy! Get your clothes on!”…”thanks Grandpa will being discreet with the photo. I will really like that when I get older”)
We’ll be swinging and giggling the whole while….
Our little child prodigy!
OK y’all. Stay with me while I sit my camera down and hug up on this little guy and kiss his chubby cheeks
Lincoln having a conversation with his dinosaurs…hahaha
Just as my heart aches for those in Connecticut today, I am somewhat selfishly reminded of the sadness felt some 15 years ago as it was on this day then my Mom died. In her memory I photographed this treasured 34 year old embroidery she made for me. She knew then and as it is still to this day, I love the sounds of good barbershop quartet harmony. I know you rest in peace Mom and that you take the hands of those innocent victims of the day and welcome them into God’s glory.
To my pleasant surprise, my Aunt Marilyn mailed me a “Texas Santa” this week. It really is a night light, but for me it went straight to the Tree instead. Thanks Marilyn – HoHoHo Y’all
Modern trees in downtown Fort Worth – Lancaster Avenue….
I could see this from 1/2 mile away…I came upon a lone tree shining brightly with thousands of lights. This lone pasture shade tree, on a moonless night, is so keenly lighted with amazing detail…I really needed my tripod.
After a brisk morning walk, the Zoe-bird finds a sunny spot on the dining room floor and takes in its warmth…sad eyes and all (and she will move with the sun until the sun no longer comes through the window).
The adventures of a sassy, often defiant, not quite fearless pilot's wife, mother, and photographer. Join me as I globe trot the world using my travel benefits. Here I will share photographs of my travels, chronicle my journeys, and provide useful tips and information.
I previously worked as a news and sports photographer. Recently I have been enjoying wildlife photography. My approach toward bird photos is similar to sports photography. I attempt to capture mostly action and hopefully a unique perspective.
