The Memorial Daily Cap(s) (149)

Remembering (Veteren’s Memorial in Hickory Creek, Texas)…this is the Memorial I designed for the Town in 2010, and donations constructed it in 2011 – this touches me in more ways than I realize.

But nothing touches the heart and soul like spending a day of military remembrance at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery

Artistry on the road can sometimes only be noticed and seen when the highway speed is slower than 20 mph…and we haven’t had rain in several weeks….

“The next stop that we make will be soon. Tell all the folks in Russia, and China, too. Don’t you know that it’s time to get on board, And let this train keep on riding, riding on through” (always liked that particular O’Jay’s song for some unknown reason)

Work: meeting notes and doodles from yesterday’s brainstorming…dang near had the project designed by the time we got finished, or so it seemed (I’ve got more – I am so out of practice with handwriting – dam you iPad – and sketching)

A great old grain elevator in east Fort Worth, still in operation best I can tell as "Allied Mills, Inc./Wayne Feeds"...or at least the cars in the parking lot meant someone was there doing something

So help me here. What would be the designer's inspiration to do crazy-goofy in carpet patterns? Why do "they" do this? I tried "lame" patterns on a school art patio (of all places) and the architect thought I had clean-snapped my twig.

I would one day like to meet this designer (or any hotel conference center carpet designer for that matter)...just to ask if the creative process involved the smoking of cigarettes without any writing on them.

Now what these bridge-building guys were doing with a ladder leaning against the crazy thing, I have no clue. But they did have brightly-colored, fashionable safety vests...And just what, you ask, was I doing taking a picture of guys under a bridge? Well don't cha know I'm on the look out for grumpy trolls of course.

Whoa! Have you ever done this? Take a closeup picture of your eyeball? You really gotta hold the camera steady...and whatever you do, know that blinking will definitely mess up the shot! And for the few of y'all that will ask, "no, I haven't been sipping' on the single malts lately...it's the dang new contacts prescription, I swear it is."

This one-legged red-tailed hawk taught me something in the twilight of a sunset this evening: life ought to be more about balance, perseverance, where you sit, how you present yourself (notice his tail feathers are counterbalancing his one-leggedness), and posing for a picture every now and then. So what he was a-preachin', I gotta start a-practicin'. Hope I get to see more of him soon.
