The Memorial Daily Cap(s) (149)

A day of miltiary remembrance (Veteran’s Memorial in Hickory Creek Texas)

Remembering (Veteren’s Memorial in Hickory Creek, Texas)…this is the Memorial I designed for the Town in 2010, and donations constructed it in 2011 – this touches me in more ways than I realize.

But nothing touches the heart and soul like spending a day of military remembrance at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery

Families had the opportunity to sit with their fallen loved ones….

And comrades had the opportunity to reach out to those same families….

Never forget….

A day of pride, thankfulness, and sadness…all in one. I had a lump in my throat all day long.

Waiting for the right time….

To perform, with all our national respect, a 21-canon salute….

It was an honor to watch these proud men at such a close proximity….

At attention, after the canon salute….

Somebody needs to help me with knowing these gentlemen and the symbolism (significance) of their colorful hats…

A lifetime of service….

So many ways one can wear (show) their patriotism….

Families got to spend the day with their loved ones and each other

For peace, at peace…..

The Pictures-Taken-When-The-Morning-Commute-Sucks Daily Cap(s) (145)

Artistry on the road can sometimes only be noticed and seen when the highway speed is slower than 20 mph…and we haven’t had rain in several weeks….

“The next stop that we make will be soon. Tell all the folks in Russia, and China, too. Don’t you know that it’s time to get on board, And let this train keep on riding, riding on through” (always liked that particular O’Jay’s song for some unknown reason)

A Reliable Man is driving A Reliable Truck on his way to A Reliable Client that just so happens to have A Reliable Pool in A Reliable Neighborhood so he can provide A Reliable Pool Service….

It seems every roadway in Dallas-Fort Worth is under construction these days. It has all commuters irritated for sure. But then when you see this (because traffic is at a standstill BTW), I can’t help but wonder if this is like the penalty box for misbehaving highway construction workers….

The Sketchy Notes Daily Cap(s) (130)

Work: meeting notes and doodles from yesterday’s brainstorming…dang near had the project designed by the time we got finished, or so it seemed (I’ve got more – I am so out of practice with handwriting – dam  you iPad – and sketching)

Work: figuring how we might get that boardwalk rebuilt above the flood line…and out of reach to those dern water snakes. And yes, one should always know where the “duck standing area” is in your life…

Church: just something to keep in mind and in perspective (first line – if you can read my handwriting)….

A great old grain elevator in east Fort Worth, still in operation best I can tell as "Allied Mills, Inc./Wayne Feeds"...or at least the cars in the parking lot meant someone was there doing something

The elevator's backside (south facing side). This makes me wonder if the business name was planned to have 2 words with 5 letters each just so it could be painted on the silos

A great old painted sign on the north side gives the place some dated charm

A side entry that obviously is not used any longer except by maybe people with really long legs (love the completely different ornamental grilles on the doors)

I think I made the contractors mad this morning...they all turned their backs on me (and walked away)

I think I made the daffodils mad this morning...they all turned their backs on me (and leaned away)

So help me here. What would be the designer's inspiration to do crazy-goofy in carpet patterns? Why do "they" do this? I tried "lame" patterns on a school art patio (of all places) and the architect thought I had clean-snapped my twig.

I would one day like to meet this designer (or any hotel conference center carpet designer for that matter)...just to ask if the creative process involved the smoking of cigarettes without any writing on them.

Now what these bridge-building guys were doing with a ladder leaning against the crazy thing, I have no clue. But they did have brightly-colored, fashionable safety vests...And just what, you ask, was I doing taking a picture of guys under a bridge? Well don't cha know I'm on the look out for grumpy trolls of course.

Whoa! Have you ever done this? Take a closeup picture of your eyeball? You really gotta hold the camera steady...and whatever you do, know that blinking will definitely mess up the shot! And for the few of y'all that will ask, "no, I haven't been sipping' on the single malts lately...it's the dang new contacts prescription, I swear it is."

I pretty sure I got behind the Jetson's during this morning's workday commute, or so their vehicle shadows against the barrier wall might seem to indicate. Except...these guys with their midsize sedans weren't floating and or making soprano-pitched beep-beep sounds.

Let's see...gonna make a list: A lake, a sunrise, a man, a shelter, a table, a BBQ grill, and a fishing experience. Is life grand or what?

This one-legged red-tailed hawk taught me something in the twilight of a sunset this evening: life ought to be more about balance, perseverance, where you sit, how you present yourself (notice his tail feathers are counterbalancing his one-leggedness), and posing for a picture every now and then. So what he was a-preachin', I gotta start a-practicin'. Hope I get to see more of him soon.

Ran into some old friends tonight. I didn't even have to ask, but I did...they're doing just fine

Fishing on the lake, on a 32° morning...well isn't that 'bout as goofy as someone standing out in the same kind of weather, taking pictures of some crazy guy fishing on the lake

The Daily Cap (31)

My oh my how our thirsty times have changed. Even amongst the rooftops the old still stands tall with the new (and with the in-betweener)

A Good Morning Saturday - a particularly beautiful sunrise it was. And even more so when I turned my back to her and found this Oak waiting for the same glimpse of light and warming of the soul, just like me.

The Daily Cap (25)

Down by the boat docks this morning...after a big 4" rain...these guys all have their head underwater... that is except for the one guy that obviously has been hanging out with the marina dog too much...do ducks have ears?

The Daily Cap (24)

Damn you, you ol' buzzards...sitting around, all perched in your tree like you're waiting for something dead to happen. Get a life! (instead)
