The Daily Cap (22)

Something is peculiar about 77° and kids playing in the lake in the middle of January...even for the typically mild winters of North Texas.

It is well

Funny thing happened on the way to the church the other day.

It started with…oh wait, first a lead in: A typical Sunday morning routine of mine when driving to church is to plug my iPod (iPhone actually) to the truck stereo and get to singing with a playlist simply labeled “Sunday”. Of the hundred or so gospel/Christian music owned, the songs in this playlist are my favorites. This list numbers 24 songs as of today, and is populated with “standards of the faith” as much as it is with more contemporary songs that stir my spiritual soul.

The Daily Cap (20)

Leafless trees silhouetted against a sunrise or sunset do it to me every time. This, along with news from home gave some calm to the end of an emotional day...

That she is a stately (Post) Oak with a true stature of magnificance...even in the winter. And especially when seen standing in front of a beautiful sunrise glow.

Here's one reason I have for not doing personal trainers. Why is it, more times than not, these guys act like they have little time for this and something better awaits them elsewhere? All us poor plokes out here want to do is try to fit back into last summer's clothes....

"Yup...you guys are taking too long! I'm outta here! Go ahead and keep doing what your doing..."

Can this be an accidental, on-purpose coincidence? Scotch (along with the occasional Kahlua for merely the aroma most certainly) and books of garden design and photography...all on the same shelf. Can life be any grander?

The Daily Cap (9)

My cluttered (home) office...is it reminiscent of a clutter mind? I like to think not. Can we say it's just a permanent sign of temporary creativity? All I'm missing are the Royal Scotties that frequent this gem of a sanctuary. It really is kind of an eclectic mix of function, novelty, and mess huh?

Just the facts, ma’am

In reading a work-related on-line article about effective presentations, one forwarded from our marketing department with professional development intent I’m sure, I found myself nodding in agreement and chuckling with one particular exerpt…

“Never Let Facts Speak for Themselves

Facts need interpretation. According to Mark Twain, “There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics.” If you don’t believe this, tune in to the next political campaign. People can make facts and numbers mean almost anything. Interpret yours so that your listeners draw the same conclusions you intend.” Read More…

Ironicially, today just so happens to be the Iowa Republican Caucas. I would imagine many political opponents to the former Massachuetts governor can most likely relate to this...this...message. But wait...is this all the Governor's doing towards them? (1/3/2012 during the morning commute @ southbound Hwy121 in Fort Worth)

A new year, a new 365 project

Last year Limeyfish.com embarked on an ambitious ”postaday” quest with this blog. And it did OK with it. Frankly, there was concern that y’all would tire of the incessant bantering and the geez-is-this-guy-always silliness. Apparently, y’all must not have minded too much being too exposed.

I came up a bit short in achieving the goal needing a minimum of one daily post. This blog had 363 posts for the year…but know this: that is a bit misleading. A mere 2 days of blogging were not missed for the year. I had several multiple-posts days in 2011. My guess is I missed out on maybe 15 days in 2011 of not getting a post posted. Dang it!

Oh well, right?

So this year another goal with this blog has been set!

Favorite “cheese” of 2011

Believe it or not, I’m photo’d out…for the year.

And it has been yet another active year exercising the Canon, FugiFilm, and on occasion, the in-a-pinch iPhone camera.

In looking back at my 2011, I see that I did a lot of birding and flowering with the photos taken (or at least those that are my “favorites”). And I certainly threw in a few sunrise/sunset photos…after all, what would a set of my pics be without those kind of photos?

Take a look – let me know what you think. This has been a fun year and it has taken me several places in order to capture the handful of photos here and there…and along the way.

To be jolly

Now if you just so happen to watch the video, and you don’t catch yourself smiling, then I’ll come see you to massage that hardened heart of yours. It is, after all, the season to be jolly. So be it! Stop it with the political moaning, employment groaning, life-is-not-fair bellyaching, and the unsociable Facebooking for but a few minutes…and sing a Christmas song, for crying out loud, that might make others smile for all the right Godly reasons.

Learning something

After spending part of my day at a dog park we designed for a City park project; after watching a Yorkie run at top speed (dang they’re fast); after being entertained by an Australian Shepherd (that breed doesn’t know when to call it quits), I came across this and thought…”This I like!” (from this: http://www.joke-archives.com/allineed.html)

My little cupcake

photo from mymodernmet.com

December 15th IS National Cupcake Day.

And since I’ve officially blown my tonnage-loss program right out the kitchen window this holiday season, I’m eating from a selection of chocolates from the See’s Candy Christmas gift received yesterday from OFGaPal JaiJai instead…and when I get home, the William & Sonoma Peppermint Bark awaits my palette (thanks Deb!). Just another one of those camera quirks

Mailboxes! I seek them out…I take pictures of them…homeowners can sometimes get rather concerned with me stopping in front of their house and doing so….

Don’t ask me why, but I strangely have a picture collection of these receptacles of both good and bad news. And lately during my travels (through neighborhoods timmay? really? that’s “travel”)….I’ve come upon several worthy of adding to my photo collection: Read More…

Rolling

The more I sits and try to figure it all out, this just gets too funny. From Doghouse Diaries website (http://thedoghousediaries.com/)…the jury is still out on my personality, gang:

We Will Remember

Just when I figured I had heard most of the standards of the faith, and most of the popular Christian Gospel theses days sang and/or performed at church, Denton Bible throws one at me this morning an inspiration that I’ve been singing all day:

I will say I prefer Kendall (leading the choir), our 3 soloists, and the 50-60 folks in the Denton Bible Choir singing their version. It gets the hair on our arms standing up and it makes even the worst singer a part of the choir for nearly 5 whole minutes!

Or maybe….

Or maybe a DQ Mint Oreo Blizzard would do just as well….
