The Wet Daily Cap(s) (151)

A Japanese Maple…after the storm

The storm a cometh….

Another look at the Japanese Maple…after the rain

Oh the things one will sit and wait for….(and take about 300 pictures just to get one you will keep)

A storm front is always impressive….

Whitney & Stephen wedding…through the eyes of amateur photography

The Bride, our beautiful OFNi Whitney

The Bride and Groom dance….

The Setup-And-Git-R-Done-For-The-Wedding Daily Cap(s) (147)

20120526-160059.jpg

OFNi Whitney gets married this evening and looky here who stepped up and got it all put together – another OFNi Sarah. I hope I speak on behalf of the both the wedding couple’s family…thanks Gurl!

20120526-160214.jpg

And you too Jerry! Stepping up for extended families you’re just now getting to know….

20120526-160022.jpg

Yup…that is a deer head mount in the top right. Whitney and Stephen are getting married tonight in a place called “Daisy Dukes” that typically serves a variety of cold alcoholic beverages. So the curtains were made and strung to cover certain amenities of the establishment, and Sarah created a make-shift alter for the ceremony. Did I mention OFNi Sarah and Jerry are some of the bestest people on face of the earth? They did the “Git R’ Done” all day long (and well into the evening, wedding, and dance)….

The Posing Scottie Daily Cap(s) (139)

Zoey in the morning sunshine….

Zoey in the room glow at night….

And then there’s always the Queen, Mackie…no worries – they get groomed next week!

The Desk Junk Daily Cap(s) (137)

These certainly do not help my tonnage-loss program…but dang they’re good!

Been on my desk since last fall…just waiting for a cough I guess…

Camera stuff – of course….

Starting to look a bit scoffed up and well-used….

These are to my “drive-by-shooter” FugiFilm camera as dark chocolate is to my tastebuds….

A little bit of everything to treat what might be ailing ya (except for the Princess Zoey vet bottle for a stool sample…no worries, it’s still empty y’all)

Not on my desk, but still an every night occurrence: Princess Zoey takes on the front yard gecko through my office window…..

Trying a bit of an unusual snack these days…please don’t think anything less of me for it….

But these will always trump the seaweed…duh!

Now which political campaign spouting another set of falsehoods could that be?

iPad cover, Mackie Queen of Scots medicine, and sketch books…always have plenty of sketch books around

My iTunes account wants to know if these might be of interest to me. Anyone know any of these guys?

The iPad Shutter Button Daily Cap(s) (136)

This would be me with my Great Niece Heidi this evening…she discovered how the iPad camera shutter button works….

A young photographer in the making…

Sometimes the subject matter gets a bit sad looking, huh Heidi?

The Modeling Daily Cap(s) (135)

While photographing coneflowers this evening I happened across a row of parked automobiles at the BRIT (Botanical Research Institute of Texas)….

Odd how the Fort Worth Model A Ford Club would be found on a Monday eve in that location….

Great group of enthusiasts! They invited me in to their meeting….

But what do I know about Model A’s except they are always fun to photograph…

One guy even drove his ’53 Jaguar to the Model A Ford Club meeting…he had to park away from the others….

Had to make this the Daily Cap(s) – I can get more coneflower shots tomorrow, right?

The Zoey+More Down By the Lake Daily Cap(s) (134)

Zoey: This would by the goofy Princess Zoey, Scottie #2 owning the house (or at least the easy chair). She sleeps like this often….

More: Rudbeckia down by the lake

More: Thistle, down by the lake

More: another Rudbeckia (down by the lake)….

More: I’m not sure what this is…yet…down by the lake

More: being bugged…down by the lake (a couple chiggers were had for these pics)

Some loving that goes on and on

OK. So I will admit…I’m a sucker for a good love song.

And Lionel Richie’s “Endless Love” sung with Diana Ross has always been a favorite.

Like you – you can admit it, that’s fine – I know the lyrics by heart.

Yup, I know the harmonies and both the guy and girl parts. I can sing the song (not very well mind you) acapella, or with Lionel and Diana if need be. Either way it looks to be, and sounds like someone is getting all glazey-eyed…

I now know, with my youthful courtship attempts I was always (and still am for that matter) more romantic and charming in my imagination than I was in real life. These songs did not help schmuse the girls, but it was fun trying! So here we go…can’t we all just sing along?

Now dang if I don’t have two more versions to sing with from even more favorite artists. I’m not yet sure which version I like better…don’t think I will pick for a while.

So if you hear really bad singing, along with really good singing, coming from the other room, that would be me (the really bad singing) giving it the good ol’ romantic try (with the really good video singing). Please show a little patience while I give this new harmony stuff a tone and pitch. (No worries – it will not be “endless” suffering).

I wonder if Diana Krall sings this song? hmmmmmmmm….

The Maiden Piper Daily Cap(s) (131)

The maiden flight of a radio controlled minature airplace this morning…a whole lot of excitement amongst the pilots

There were other minature aircraft taking flight prior to the this one….

I overheard these two talking…this is a true 1/3 scale minature of a Piper Cub…

Don’t ask me what they’re doing….I thought we were going to have a sling-shot takeoff there for a minute….

A guiding hand during taxi….

Ready, aim,….

Take off!

Her underside catches the early morning sun….

No tricks…straight forward flying and easy turns this morning

Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to “the ground”. Please remain seated until the aircraft has come to a complete stop at the gate. Be careful when opening the overhead bins as contents may have shifted during the flight….

The Rah Rah Daily Cap(s) (129)

The University of North Texas Eagle mascot – doesn’t know a stranger…

UNT AD (Rick Villarreal) and the Eagle cheerleaders (all 37 of them – yes, I asked one of them just how many there were) welcome UNT boosters, supporters, and Chamber members

Head Football Coach (Dan McCarney) tells us they are getting better each day (and so is he – he had a stroke on 2/13/2012)….

New Women’s Basketball Coach (Mike Peterson) brings his energy and enthusiasm to the crowd….

13 days on-the-job UNT Men’s Basketball Coach (Tony Benford) shows us his winning attitude and expectations….

UNT’s new football stadium is ready for it’s second season of play….

The Silhouette Daily Cap(s) (126)

I wasn’t the only one watching the sun rise this morning….

First they were in the water, then out, then back in, and now coming back out….

Coaxing the last bit of daylight out of a day’s worth of fishing….

The Botanic Daily Cap(s) (124)

Fort Worth Botanic Gardens: a common and frequent guest of the Park

Fort Worth Botanic Gardens: a rainbow of “wild” colors

Fort Worth Botanic Gardens: complimentary (colors) in nature

Fort Worth Botanic Gardens: I finally gave up and left before this guy did….

The Big Wheelie Daily Cap (121)

20120430-200930.jpg

For their semester final design, I'm meeting and judging a class of OK State landscape architecture students in the morning. Fun! (thanks for the invite my good friend Nick). Therefore I tossed my bike on the back of the truck and will re-live my college days (but those aren't at OK State) in getting myself to and from campus....

The Red Daily Cap(s) (117)

A female Cardinal precariously perched on a flimsy wildflower stem yet singing her heart out to me this morning....

You've seen this plant on this blog before: Hot Lips Salvia waiting for bees and butterflies and standing tall for me this morning....

I'm not sure whether it's the simplicity of the photo, the color contrast, or the story that surely goes along with this abandoned chair that caught my attention this morning....

OK, so maybe there is ever a slight hint of red somewhere in the sunrise this morning... (squint and you might see it)

The Backyard Black and Yellow Daily Cap(s) (114)

Stella d'Oro Daylily - blooming in my patio pot

Mackie Queen of Scots stands guard over my Daylilies in the backyard

These Daylilies, they are a colorful thing...for being yellow and all

Princess Zoey - yes she too thinks the Daylilies and backyard belongs to her...

Who else looks at the backside of a Daylily? Kind of cool if the setting sun hits it just right....

The Go Fly A Kite Daily Cap(s) (113)

I photo-imposed on a family reunion & picnic down by the lake this afternoon. The breeze was just right, the temperatures were in the 70's. It was a perfect day for flying a kite....

For kids of age...

For kids of youth...

There were teaching moments....

there were moments of release....

there were moments of anticipation....

and moments of frustration....

But things seemed to always be looking up....

Even if things came crashing down at times....

It was a wonderful family outing to watch....

Those kites and the one's flying them could have gone on all night.

The Catapulting Daily Cap(s) (111)

Many came out to watch the company "catapult" competition at noon. Four teams competed - they had restrictions to follow in building a catapult. The goal was to launch five projectilse approximately 30 feet to a target for points, all within a time limit. It was fun!

A father and son team...with a bicycle wheel catapult

Line up the shot...

...pull the trigger

We had the Sergio-Jericho team...with a wood slingshot catapult (complete with a stained finish) that shot the ammo backwards as much as it did forward...look out camera guy (me)

The fine tuning didn't help much...

Setting up for the shot...

These guys ended up winning the competition...but not before making precise measurements of the counterbalance weights for their catapult.

3...2...1...FIRE! A weight-drop catapult design

The other father and son team took a few seconds to play in the sandbox (where they had to set their catapult)

This was the "flinging half-wiffle ball" catapult....

...with a pull chain

Competition was fierce, concentration was intense...fun was had!

Winners were woo-ed, champions were crowned, bonds were bound, and noses were picked ("come on Dad, hurry it up why don't cha") ... LOL!

The FD is sensational again

Here we go! The FD (Favorite Daughter) is web-sensational again. If you recall the “Group The Webseries” released episode 1 a few weeks ago with

My FD, The Internet Sensation.

Now, episode #2 is “her’s”:

Use this link if the Vimeo above doesn’t show up and/or poops out for you:

I can choose a positive frame of mind

‘aire she is…in all her acting glory. The BFA is paying off and gainful theatre employment is right around the corner! (yes I too choose a “positive frame of mind”). If you know T, this is so not her personality…which only makes it more funny. And for those of you that don’t know her, your missing out. Watch the video and then think the opposite of her character (then come see her next time she’s back for a visit).

The About Fort Worth Town Daily Cap(s) (107)

In downtown Fort Worth you can still look up and see a whole bunch of sky (and clouds)

In my line of work...this would be called an urban streetscape without intention

Maybe I'm just a fuddy-duddy, but what exactly is the appeal in doing this to your pickup truck?

...or this guy doing that to his truck, for that matter/ (everybody's gotta work, right?)
