Somewhere out there I reckon there is a mighty fine country song just right for this picture….

Bridge Over (Un)Troubled Waters

OK. I admit this photo was taken traveling 65 mph, the car window down, traversing over a large body of water (for inland Texas anyway), in traffic, and with one hand…but the hot air balloon next to a setting sun was just too much (good) to ignore.

Under bridge in Austin – oh the things you see and notice (not to mention the occasional pedestrian passing by on the other side)
Walking a Neighborhood in Bloom

My backyard Sour Cherry Tree (and not another pollinator anywhere close that I know of)

Sneaking a picture of neighbor’s Daylily (this took some “stealth photography” exercises in order not to alert the yappy dogs of my encroachment)

Petunias greet the postman every Spring day next door…

I’ve had these Spiderlilies at my front door for many years, although the blooms get less each year as my trees give too much shade (a Jamaican gardener I once knew called these “Trashy Ladies”…he had his reasons and I’ll leave it at that)

Why is it a rose – or that by any other name – poses such a photographic challenge for me…every blooming time?

A Clematis twines the neighbor’s mailbox

Spent roses (Hey! Now these are roses I can photograph!)

Just about to burst open to delight all that take notice….

A neighbor practicing his own version of a rooftop garden…apparently

A Minimal but Cool Thing

New leaves emerge from a volunteer Red Oak in my fence row. One of these days the tree or the fence has gotta go…but I will wait till that one day comes.
It is with H-U-G-E appreciation that my newest blog friend, the friend that has me doing fun stuff in learning, seeing, and experimenting with a camera, that I share this link: JunsJazz Images and Inspiration Issue #7.
I am humbled being associated with an outstanding group of photographers in all JJ’s online digital magazines. And at the same time I am excited to be one of the featured photographers.
Issue #7′s theme is minimalist photography. Gee, I never thought of myself as minimalist (if you’ve ever conversed with me you would know kind of what I’m trying to say) until JJ captured a number of my photos. Yup…he’s right alright. I am a photographing minimalist.
JunsJazzImages is one of a handful of my “following” blog sites I check before the WordPress Reader or my email alerts me of a new post. If you are at all interested in photography, JJ’s website will do your talent a world of good.
Thanks JJ for letting me share a moment with you on your stage.
Scottie (Easter) Sunday
A 1st for Lincoln
Peat Dunyvey, the workings on being a Prince
Prince What’s His Name
For this Prince of mine I have considered many a names:
Barclay, Gowan, Callum, Toran, Margadale, Marcus, Laine, Innes, Nachton, Lyall,
Dunyvey, Tain, Barley, Haggis, Glenburgie
And considered many suggestions:
Peat, Ozzy, Fergus, Farquhar, Shamus, Duncan, Dexter, McTavish, Cosby, Milton, Angus,
Hamish, Ollie, Piper, Charming, Edward
I have a name in mind….
If you think of some other name, leave a comment. Keep in mind the Princess as our two Scotties will be called “Zoey and _________, the Royal Heirs”. This Prince will be named by sunrise tomorrow. But I give y’all an opportunity to chime in with a poll of a narrowed list:

Amazing Grace for Lincoln
We got to see the FGs on Saturday. And of course I took about a bajillion photos of him. But it was this video sent by the FS yesterday that topped anything I could photograph….
‘We sing Amazing Grace right before we go to bed…’
We’ll do pictures with the next post.

The Front Cometh

A cold front rolled through Fort Worth this afternoon. I am always impressed with the intimidation of nature…maybe that’s why I’ve always wanted to storm chase and by all means, fly into the eye of a hurricane! In the meantime, this will have to do….

Same photo, but with a bit of iPad Snapseed app tweaking. I do like this photo editing much better (although the original was somewhat impressive in it’s own right)…the photo takes on a more angry persona in keeping with an approaching, imposing storm front, don’t you think? BTW, this photo was taken with my iPhone, out the passenger window of my truck (yes while driving), doing about 65mph…I will have none of you reporting me to the cops, if you please.
Weekly Photo Challenge: Beyond
Since I posted so many dag-gum photos last year, I went back a a couple years and found so other photos that might…could work for this week’s photo challenge. At least that way, you long-time followers may have forgotten about some of these. And you know me, I cannot share just one photo:

Two kids that were unknown to me were found tossing pebbles into the great “beyond”…and it looks like there was a conversation to their purpose as well…

My dad and two brothers during a shore lunch while fishing in Canada; I’ve often wondered, for this brief moment that their together yet solitary pose was captured, just what it was each was thinking “beyond” that present moment….
Fog on Sunday
Snow on Tuesday
Sundown with the iPhone
These pictures from yesterday aren’t too bad considering the pace of a brisk evening walk, a quickly draining iPhone battery, and an impatient leashed Scottish Terrier (that would be none other than the Princess Zoey). I used an HDR app on the iPhone to take these photos.

If you look real close – and I mean put your nose on the screen close – you can make out the sliver of moon right over the tree tops
Ya know, maybe I should sell my big cameras and use my iPhone camera more often (yeah right). :)
