The Apparently Summers Here Daily Cap(s) (106)

Nothing like having a fun, friendly family soccer game during the Sunday afternoon picnic outing...except for the one guy who looks a bit chapped about something...or maybe he's just cutting through.

...and the little girl could care less about some silly old game of kicking a ball around...she's got some orange shoes that deserve her undivided attention right now...that, and a cool refreshing soda.

a family jet ski outing...

The size of your boat really doesn't matter, nor the way it moves across the water...

...Just as long as the dang thing floats!

Wonder what the investment in this guy's fishing pole is....

...this guy has his investments under control...all you need is one pole with a bobber (and a pair of chest waders comes in handy at times)

...but these guys, holy cow...another one of those "family that fishes together" sort of gatherings - I have a gut feeling their pole-investment is not the priority here...

Now this, I'm all for: get cha a small Zebco pole from the local discounter and give it a heave-ho sidearm cast...and I bet this kiddo is full of questions

Show off...

Seriously?

OK, you're good...enough of you and your fancy water skiing..'Hey Buddy! It's only April. It's supposed to still be a bit chilly out here on the lake. Grab a towel"

And so the kid has to show me a trick or two as well...

Does it get any better than a kid's dog anxiously waiting and proudly watching from the dock? I think not. This is good stuff...

The Lincoln Daily Cap(s) (105)

Look who we went and saw today...

Now what a minute...who is this little guy with the wild eyes and crazy hair? And that definitely is a smile upon his face!

FS, FDIL, FGs...I like these guys...alot

The By-Gully Daily Cap(s) (99)

Clouds obscured the Easter sunrise this morning so instead I listen to some Vivaldi /Mozart and watched the gulls fish. (sorry for the dark photos and blurriness y'all - it was much too early this morning to expect the head to have all the shuttering worked out beforehand)

Successful fishing venture on this dive...

Trying to get back in the air after a dive-bomb...and with a load

Persistance and perseverance pays off...

Synchronized attack formation...what an enjoyable strategy to watch....

The Lake Daily Cap(s) (97)

Is it...a family that fishes together, stays together (despite the smell)?

Is it...the family with the most (and biggest) poles, catch the most fish (or at least look the best in not doing so)?

New foliage on an immature Honeylocust catches the last bit of setting sun

Looky here who's on the run from me...my turkey buddy (or perhaps he is my buddy that's a turkey)

You know they know who I am (or have seen me enough times) when they stop 30 yards from my truck and sing (gobble) a duet for me. That was pretty cool despite them being just a bit "pitchy".

The Peers, Colleagues, and Damn Them Convention Center Carpets Daily Cap(s) (96)

Leave it to a landscape architect to have such a handsome lime sherbet jacket (the patterned purple shirt up close was even better)...sorry for the lack of focus gang, but I bet you can get the gist.

Meet my first boss out of college, Bill...he's still wonders why he ever hired me

My dear friend and former champion rollerskater Traci (we grew up professionally together don't cha know) enjoying the figure 8 railroad tracks found in the convention center carpet

Who designs this? When does the inspiration hit? What kind of music do they listen to? Are they Facebook likable?

What is it about convention center carpets that fascinate me? (see above pic questions)

The 88˚ and Sun(day) Daily Cap(s) (92)

88˚ and Sun(day)...and pushing the limits of your boundaries

88˚ and Sun(day)...and Indian Paintbrush responding....

88˚ and Sun(day)...and big boats and catching a few rays where you can

88˚ and Sun(day)...and half nakedness on boats partying on the lake (and for a reason that only beer and sunshine could probably explain, the one guy in the red cap has a toy gun holstered to his leg)

88˚ and Sun(day)...and that probably has little to do with this Superman casting technique

88˚ and Sun(day)...and my backyard Sour Cherry Tree in bloom

88˚and Sun(day)...one week from Easter, and the Royal Scotties are still fashionably wearing black

The Lincoln Daily Cap (91)

Got to hold my Favorite Grandson (FGs) Lincoln today! Feed him and then even took a nap together! WOW! I definitely have a new love in my life :)

The Nightmare Daily Cap(s) (90)

Have I ever mentioned that next to tornadoes, I like snakes best?

The guy I was with today had a golf club shaft and used it to poke at these creatures of questionable value (that is a strictly a personal commentary on my part...although don't try to argue differently with me please - you will not convince me otherwise)...like he wanted me to start screaming and see how fleet-of-foot this big ol' boy is when hightailing it.

My next design project involves dealing with the habitat of these "nasty disposition black water snakes - I say they are Diamoondback Water Snakes - with non-venomous bites" (did I say "bites"? Oh geez). It seems I have been challenged with re-designing a City park boardwalk that traverses over this snake pit/beaver dam. It will require additional field investigation, which in turn will involve countless hours of insomnia, sudden night time awakenings with sheet-soaking sweats, and Indiana Jones type of fear-facing. Am I getting paid enough?

Saturday Down By the Lake

Indian Paintbrush

Just hanging out, standing on a log, having a conversation, taking in the morning sunshine...no big deal

I swear, these guys never stop fishing and eating...and they stay so dag gum skinny!

A Saturday morning demonstration

The morning dew on a spider web

Yup, my pant knees got wet for this shot

My turkey friends trying to sneak by unnoticed this morning...my good friend Doyt got to meet/greet them with me this morning.

The Fisherman Daily Cap(s) (84)

Wonder what the morning conversation was..."whadda mean you didn't bring the donuts?"

Fishing for fish so they can go fishing (why do I like to watch these guys do this...and end up saying the same thing over and over again?)

With all the rain of late, the fishing pier has also become the wading pier.

The hope and wishes of youth is bound to bring a smile to your face, right?

Oh the lengths fisherman will go to just to catch a fish. Poles in a bucket on a submerged picnic table, pole on the bank, and of course in order to let the little boy in each of us (men) out, ya gotta have one in hand so you can wade out in waist deep water for the cast

But they always get an enviable great show first thing in the morning....

The Lincoln Pics (Week 1)

From Tyler and Tammy….

Day 3 - FS and FGs bonding at home

Day 3 - our glowing FGs (fighting off that dang jaundice)

Day 4 - somebody gets their own bed

Day 5 - look who's looking around

The Odd Daily Cap(s) (83)

This morning's sunrise

The regular crowd shuffles in....

Rippling at the shoreline

And then at lunch...after 30 some years on not playing competitive basketball...I try to keep up with guys about half my age (it was not a pretty thing) (thanks JoeM for taking my camera off my desk and sneaking a few photos...thanks a whole lot)

After all these years I'm still try to show a left-handed game...

And a right-handed game...

Regardless of the handedness, I'm just not very good any more (not that I ever was). But you know last year at this time, there would be no way I could have gone 3 games with these punks. Thank heavens for the tonnage-loss program! Now if only I could do something about the stiff and soreness aftermath...

The Birding Daily Cap(s) (80)

Best I can tell, this is a Northern Flicker (woodpecker). More specifically, I think its the Yellow-shafted Flicker...you know, the male Yellow-shafted Flicker with the red splotch on the back of the neck and the way-cool mustache.

This is one of my "if only" photos. "If only" the focus were better on this Bluebird in flight....

The Lincoln Daily Cap(s) (79)

I met my newest, bestest pal today. This is Lincoln, my all-of-24-hour old grandson. He pooped twice, peed twice, and got feed once. Good to know what is going in is coming out a-ok. All is well - they go home tomorrow (Tuesday).

Like riding a bicycle....

Sat with two of my favorites...FS and now my FGS. A couple of champs these two are!

The FDIL was a champ as well - she's doing well, way-proud of Lincoln, and graciously let us play with the kiddo most of the afternoon and evening, knowing we probably were contributing to a much-anticipated long night of floor pacing with the little man.

G-Momma, new Papa, and Lincoln enjoying a moment on the couch...

The Nesting Daily Cap(s) (76)

I have to fight the curosity-urge (and maybe I shouldn't) to go up and knock on the door just so I can visit with the person that does this sort of thing. (I hope they didn't stump the trees just to place the birdhouses)

They might have more bird houses than they have birds....

The Roadrunning Daily Cap(s) (75)

Found this lady this morning...quite the impressive Roadrunner

She was busy scampering about...didn't seem to care that I was stalking her

She would stop and pose for me...like she knew I had my camera on her

See what I mean? Posing....

Then she started acting funny...like this "runner" was about to take flight

She was nesting...I took the picture and then let her be. (if I hadn't watched her go from the ground to the tree, I'd never know she was up there...don't you just love nature's gift of camouflage)

Fun(ny) With the FD

Today, at the Fort Worth Botanical Gardens…we had a moment to express some fun we had knocking about today. FD goes home tomorrow morn :(

Tired of Spring Flowers yet????

Good Monday morning

A fishing morning this morning....

Patient fishing this morning....

Here come the weedy-looking spring wildflowers...

I think I remember my Grandma having these in the farm yard....

Took the day off and spent it with the FD (Favorite Daughter) - beautiful day...we had a blast

After today, we feel the same way kiddo!

The Birthday Daily Cap(s) (71)

Little Madi turned six...while at Chuckie Cheese best I could tell (she didn't bring her husband to the party)

Making fun happen at the photo booth...at Chuckie Cheese for crying out loud (and the birthday girl is no where in sight)

POW 3-7-2012

For those of you that follow or happen across this blog, please know I do an email distribution of odd, funny, peculiar, and sometimes cool photos discovered throughout any given week. Most of the photos are of signs, or drive-by and/or while-driving observations. Now please understand, I’m not always regular (probably a poor choice of word there) with my POW (Pictures Of the Week) emails. I’ll try to be more consistent, and by posting here we’ll see if that so moves me to be better about my regularity.

These photos are different (at least up to this point in time) than ”The Daily Cap” series. And for those of you already on the email list that also read my blog, you get POW’d twice….

1/28/2012: Carrollton, Texas

I’m not sure whether the wind blew away the rest of the signs, or if this is it…”as” if this will make be stop and shop cars, right?
