Push, Pull, Swords and More

I love signs...especially the home made ones....

I love signs…especially the home made ones (with a hand reflection no less)….

And some homemade signs are so blatantly simple, it makes you wonder sometimes....

And some homemade signs are so blatantly simple, it makes you wonder sometimes….

Some signs just make you go "Huh?"

Some signs just make you go “Huh?”

Others make you nod your head....

Others make you nod your head….

Some are...well...I have nothing on this one....

Some are…well…I have nothing on this one….

And then we always seem to come back to those "huh"" signs....

And then we always seem to come back to those “huh”" signs….

The Pie Toss Daily Cap(s) (321)

Each of the last 4 years, the Friday before Thanksgiving, my company has a rousing, lunch hour game of flag football to raise money for a worthy cause. Past games has sent money to Children’s Hospital, a soup kitchen, and Scottish Rite. Hospital. This year our money goes to the family of a co-worker that unexpectedly passed away a few weeks ago. Whipped cream pies-in-the-face always end to this day of fundraising.

Ryan, this year’s event coordinator, gets a pie-beard (and foil cap)….

Newlywed Andrew catches one square in the chops….

For some, the pie comes to them…for others, they go to the pie.

It’s maybe only once a year that a boss catches a pie to the face and grins about it….

Austin was a real trooper here – he took this pie to the chops for his dad….

Perhaps my favorite: a double pie smack to and from Kips and Angela….

Kips wipes away the cream….

Angela searches for a wash rag….

Raymond’s Texas Longhorn shirt was just asking for it….$3000+ was raised for Tommy’s family. Great company event, gracious contributions from the employees. Can’t wait for the Christmas party now!

The Denton Daily Cap(s) (320)

Spent the day in Denton (Texas) today…this Canna was singing to me: “I will survive….”

One of the guys in the office came running back to me this afternoon and simply said “Look!”. I did, said “Oh!”, and took a picture….

And by the time I got outside the office building, I had this sky to photograph….

Wait a minute…would you hire the sign company with a sign in need to a sign?

The My Dog The Cat Daily Cap(s) (292)

The Princess Zoey…I swear she thinks she’s cat sometimes

A contented nap this evening while in front of the television….

She’s watching me watching her watching me photograph her…..

The Morning Commute Daily Cap(s) (256)

Really? Chimneys AND Wild…Life?

Either he just had a flat tire, or he’s hoping not to get one….

Maybe it is that Zach added more “soft” services after he chose the name of his “hard” business….

If this belongs to one of my local blog followers, I apologize up front. But what part of “cool” did you think having a slab of metal acting as a spoiler of some sorts on the hatchback trunk lid of your odd-colored Toyota really is?

It’s the date of the USMC’s birthday….

I guess there’s some quality design in concrete and excavation, right? Sure there is….

Masons doing Masonry at the Masonic Temple (in Fort Worth)…..

Fun with Fallon

OK y’all. Here’s a change-up post from the The Daily Cap(s). Jimmy Fallon  is just a funny guy, and talented in so many ways….

If you can, give your political attitudes a break for three minutes 21 seconds and enjoy this for just being funny several times over:

I’ve always like both genres of this music…now I’ve got them mashed! Who wants to form a quartet with me?

This one is a hoot…and it brings back several childhood musical instrument memories too boot (I think I could have played anywhere in the band had I saved the “toys”):

The Sunday NYC Daily Cap(s) (225)

It matters not the size of the camera or the photographer…just as long as the photo is gotten.

this is my landscape architecture photo of the day….it’s a cool spot. The small slivers of green space in this city always amazes me for a multitude of reasons.

Sitting at the Wall Street Bull Sculpture, this guy played the National Anthem over and over and over…he got a buck from me, a smile, and a nod of the head. He did the same back…except for the dollar bill

It’s me and graveyards again….came across this famous gravesite at the Trinity Church (the church that “survived” 9/11 being a couple blocks from Ground Zero and now the sidewalk has the last of the Occupy Wall Street crowd).

I could spend days and days doing nothing other than photographing the neat windows, doors, and building facades of NYC

Attended FD’s matinee performance of “Falling”…she was outstanding, in fact the entire cast did a bang-up job.

I love the bridges of NYC as well…this one is The Williamsburg (and I wasn’t driving BTW)

If anyone has a preconceived idea that NYC is all concrete….well not quite.

NYC cyclists are a creative bunch despite their bike rack craftsmanship being something less than desirable…personal opinion of course

The Brooklyn Flea Market – cool place, wonderful artists, and a couple handfuls of vendors that make you wonder “who buys this stuff?”

Love the NYC street vendors and their character….

This has got to be an Ewok soccer player…no?

History all over the place….one of my favorite authors and wisdom-sayers

And right down the street from the Mark Twain house is the lady’s home that gave us this famous quote….

We did a night-time schooner ride from Pier 62 to the Stature of Liberty…and back. What a cool way to spend a Sunday eve – the Hudson River is quite peaceful at night (or at least this night it was)

We did a midnight stop in Chinatown…everyone ought to give Wo Hop Restaurant (downstairs) a try at least once…anytime of day, but know the midnight crowd is definitely interesting. This is the sign marking the restrooms….

The Friday NYC Daily Cap(s) (223)

We were welcomed in New York City for the weekend by the FD. This is but one of the many wonderful church steeples in NYC….

Does every city have one of these?

Not since I earned a Boy Scout merit badge have I eaten dandelion greens as a meal. At Brooklyn’s Frankie’s Spuntino, one of the FD’s favorite restaurant in the City, the dandelions were a whole lot better than I remembered….

I wonder if the cell phone reception is better if you squat low to the ground at a busy street corner….

The Manhattan Bridge connecting Dumbo to Manhattan…I think.

Driving the Brooklyn Bridge with the FD…..

Opening night for FD at the FringeNYC Festival…’Falling’ was sensational and T did a great job. It’s been 12 years since I’ve last watched her perform…some kind of dad I am, huh?

Don’t be late….

The post-opening night party with the cast and crew….fun times! (that’s the FD in the middle on the left side)

The Airport iPhoning People Daily Cap(s) (218)

Oh the things you find (and see) while waiting on a delayed flight…..

Soooooooo, she is carrying her crutches?

No such thing as a low battery keeping this kid from gaming…..

Kid tugging on his dad…

Brothers (wish I got the front view of these two…they had matching goatees)

Only a man secure in his ways can wear tangerine colored shorts….

But then only a man secure in ways can were a 1980′s style short….

“Hey Lady! There’s something choking you?”

Parlez-vous francais?

There is no substitute (or excuse) in digging out the old grade school color wheel and selecting complimentary colors to wear (at least from the waist down)….

This is when you know your Facebooking controls your life….

This guy was really, really hungry….

I think he might have been a pro-wrestler….

This still causes rapid eye movement….

It’s always important to match your shoe color with your shirt….

You know you’re in Washington DC pretty quick…..

The Completely Random Daily Cap(s) (173)

An icon “Market” building on the edge of downtown Fort Worth – abandoned and “for sale”

A really rusted coil of wire….

What a parking lot does to an iPhone when fumble-fingers are fiddling’…that is a bummer!

I should know, but have no idea what these belong to….

Seriously?

This day is done…FD in town tomorrow! FGs Lincoln to be seen as well!

The Kansas Relay-For-Life Golf Daily Cap(s) (160)

Dad

A beautiful day to start the tournament….

Youngens were in trouble most of the day….

The course was treacherous in places…

OFNi Tara and OFNi Dani seemed a bit carefree this day….

A collection of May’s for sure….

Not sure if they were posing for me or what….

It was a game of “OMG!!!”

3 of the 4 Oldtimers (wonder where the 4th guy was….)

OFB TR – nice form bro! (WTH?)

When the cameras got close, someone choked….

FS and OFB Tony – watching the run of the putt

OFNe Trevor (his 30th birthday BTW) and OFNi Tara (his sister)…

You would think someone would have made this putt…someone…right?

An eagle putt elation….

OFB Tony…

Dad meets his great grandson Lincoln for the first time…after the tournament

Dad, FS, FGS – a three generation photo…who’s missing here? Oh yeah, me – I was taking the photo (obviously) – FS isn’t always so, so, so…intense hahaha

Grandpa TR and Uncle Tony had to be some kid-retrieving from over the neighbor’s fence (after a wiffle ball foul ball when that way)

A styling OFGrNe Toby….

OFGrNe Eli – he L-O-V-E-S chocolate covered strawberries

The Leave-No-Scottie-Inside Daily Cap(s) (154)

The Royals – Princess Zoey here – were lounging about the living room today, staying in the AC instead of the 93º temperatures….

Mackie Queen of Scots will always give me that annoyed look when the camera is out (no matter if its the big Canon or the little FugiFilm…she indulges me only for a few shots, so I gotta be quick with her)

But there is one way to get at least the Queen out-of-doors…feed her watermelon! She absolutely loves this summertime treat. She recognizes the melon when you bring it in the door and will start bumping your leg. When its being cut, she either sits up and begs or will scratch the beegeebers out of your leg….

The Princess on the other hand, is a bit less enthusiastic about the treat (although there is no way the Queen will get any of her portion of her melon whether she eats it or not). Regardless, it got their lazy butts off the couch and to the backyard

The Desk Junk Daily Cap(s) (137)

These certainly do not help my tonnage-loss program…but dang they’re good!

Been on my desk since last fall…just waiting for a cough I guess…

Camera stuff – of course….

Starting to look a bit scuffed up and well-used….

These are to my “drive-by-shooter” FugiFilm camera as dark chocolate is to my tastebuds….

A little bit of everything to treat what might be ailing ya (except for the Princess Zoey vet bottle for a stool sample…no worries, it’s still empty y’all)

Not on my desk, but still an every night occurrence: Princess Zoey takes on the front yard gecko through my office window…..

Trying a bit of an unusual snack these days…please don’t think anything less of me for it….

But these will always trump the seaweed…duh!

Now which political campaign spouting another set of falsehoods could that be?

iPad cover, Mackie Queen of Scots medicine, and sketch books…always have plenty of sketch books around

My iTunes account wants to know if these might be of interest to me. Anyone know any of these guys?

The Catapulting Daily Cap(s) (111)

Many came out to watch the company "catapult" competition at noon. Four teams competed - they had restrictions to follow in building a catapult. The goal was to launch five projectilse approximately 30 feet to a target for points, all within a time limit. It was fun!

A father and son team...with a bicycle wheel catapult

Line up the shot...

...pull the trigger

We had the Sergio-Jericho team...with a wood slingshot catapult (complete with a stained finish) that shot the ammo backwards as much as it did forward...look out camera guy (me)

The fine tuning didn't help much...

Setting up for the shot...

These guys ended up winning the competition...but not before making precise measurements of the counterbalance weights for their catapult.

3...2...1...FIRE! A weight-drop catapult design

The other father and son team took a few seconds to play in the sandbox (where they had to set their catapult)

This was the "flinging half-wiffle ball" catapult....

...with a pull chain

Competition was fierce, concentration was intense...fun was had!

Winners were woo-ed, champions were crowned, bonds were bound, and noses were picked ("come on Dad, hurry it up why don't cha") ... LOL!
