The Memorial Daily Cap(s) (149)

A day of miltiary remembrance (Veteran’s Memorial in Hickory Creek Texas)

Remembering (Veteren’s Memorial in Hickory Creek, Texas)…this is the Memorial I designed for the Town in 2010, and donations constructed it in 2011 – this touches me in more ways than I realize.

But nothing touches the heart and soul like spending a day of military remembrance at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery

Families had the opportunity to sit with their fallen loved ones….

And comrades had the opportunity to reach out to those same families….

Never forget….

A day of pride, thankfulness, and sadness…all in one. I had a lump in my throat all day long.

Waiting for the right time….

To perform, with all our national respect, a 21-canon salute….

It was an honor to watch these proud men at such a close proximity….

At attention, after the canon salute….

Somebody needs to help me with knowing these gentlemen and the symbolism (significance) of their colorful hats…

A lifetime of service….

So many ways one can wear (show) their patriotism….

Families got to spend the day with their loved ones and each other

For peace, at peace…..

The Spa Day Daily Caps(s) (144)

Mackie Queen of Scots showing off her spa day results….

Zoey the Princess sporting her new spa day clip….

Hey, now wait a minute…this guy got no where near the spa day with the Scotties so what’s up with the youthfully obnoxious shorts?

The Sketchy Notes Daily Cap(s) (130)

Work: meeting notes and doodles from yesterday’s brainstorming…dang near had the project designed by the time we got finished, or so it seemed (I’ve got more – I am so out of practice with handwriting – dam  you iPad – and sketching)

Work: figuring how we might get that boardwalk rebuilt above the flood line…and out of reach to those dern water snakes. And yes, one should always know where the “duck standing area” is in your life…

Church: just something to keep in mind and in perspective (first line – if you can read my handwriting)….

The Lifecycle Daily Cap(s) (127)

My front yard Desert Willow shows a bountiful life being in bloom and a vitality in setting a seed head.

My back yard Mexican Plum, I fear, is showing signs of a good life coming to an end as I had to remove yet another dead limb today

The Dances With Turkeys Daily Cap(s) (100)

I know…you guys are probably getting tired of all the turkey pictures, but this morning these two, I swear, were dancing for me. It’s probably the same two that were singing for me a couple days ago. Regardless, let it be known here and now that anyone who dances for me will at least get the top Limeyfish post-a-day billing. So if you can, please enjoy the series of 12 consecutive pictures of these two Tom’s strutting their stuff in a manly way just for me. It was definitely their defining stage moment; their showtime and time to show; their song and dance for anyone willing to pause a moment and watch; their foggy morning romancing of the hens. It had to have been…I just know it! I am much too aware that of the age, looks, and disposition of yours truly, it certainly does not warrant any kind of courtship…even one from one turkey (or two) to another turkey.

The 88˚ and Sun(day) Daily Cap(s) (92)

88˚ and Sun(day)...and pushing the limits of your boundaries

88˚ and Sun(day)...and Indian Paintbrush responding....

88˚ and Sun(day)...and big boats and catching a few rays where you can

88˚ and Sun(day)...and half nakedness on boats partying on the lake (and for a reason that only beer and sunshine could probably explain, the one guy in the red cap has a toy gun holstered to his leg)

88˚ and Sun(day)...and that probably has little to do with this Superman casting technique

88˚ and Sun(day)...and my backyard Sour Cherry Tree in bloom

88˚and Sun(day)...one week from Easter, and the Royal Scotties are still fashionably wearing black

The Lincoln Pics (Week 2)

Via email from the iPhone camera of the FDIL and new “mom”…and go ahead and do your own captions if you like.

The Lincoln Pics (Week 1)

From Tyler and Tammy….

Day 3 - FS and FGs bonding at home

Day 3 - our glowing FGs (fighting off that dang jaundice)

Day 4 - somebody gets their own bed

Day 5 - look who's looking around

The Odd Daily Cap(s) (83)

This morning's sunrise

The regular crowd shuffles in....

Rippling at the shoreline

And then at lunch...after 30 some years on not playing competitive basketball...I try to keep up with guys about half my age (it was not a pretty thing) (thanks JoeM for taking my camera off my desk and sneaking a few photos...thanks a whole lot)

After all these years I'm still try to show a left-handed game...

And a right-handed game...

Regardless of the handedness, I'm just not very good any more (not that I ever was). But you know last year at this time, there would be no way I could have gone 3 games with these punks. Thank heavens for the tonnage-loss program! Now if only I could do something about the stiff and soreness aftermath...

The Lincoln Daily Cap(s) (79)

I met my newest, bestest pal today. This is Lincoln, my all-of-24-hour old grandson. He pooped twice, peed twice, and got feed once. Good to know what is going in is coming out a-ok. All is well - they go home tomorrow (Tuesday).

Like riding a bicycle....

Sat with two of my favorites...FS and now my FGS. A couple of champs these two are!

The FDIL was a champ as well - she's doing well, way-proud of Lincoln, and graciously let us play with the kiddo most of the afternoon and evening, knowing we probably were contributing to a much-anticipated long night of floor pacing with the little man.

G-Momma, new Papa, and Lincoln enjoying a moment on the couch...

The Happiest of Birthdays Daily Cap(s) (78)

This is my grandson. His name is Lincoln. Today is his birthday. He and his mom and dad are doing fine. This kiddo owned the day and the hearts of everyone.

From the in-law side of the family, this is Uncle David. As of today he is 79 years, 364 days older than Lincoln...we had a party for the both them. He will own the day tomorrow for sure.

Now this would be the four siblings: Uncle David, Aunt Shirley, OFFIL Paul, and Aunt Maureen. Good times (and I think they all stole a sip or two of the Chivas)

Now this, by golly, is a crew! OFFIL Paul's family attending his brother's birthday celebration. I think we ended up ordering more BBQ (we were missing one great granddaughter).

Fun(ny) With the FD

Today, at the Fort Worth Botanical Gardens…we had a moment to express some fun we had knocking about today. FD goes home tomorrow morn :(

My FD, the Internet Sensation

Go check out the FD! Tiff’s webseries acting debut is online as of this past Thursday. Episode 1 (11 more to go) introduces the cast of characters. For those of you that don’t know my “Favorite Daughter”, she’s the one in the gray sweater/gray shirt…that says “I’d rather chew glass” right at the start. And after watching, if you’re so emotionally moved and/or financially inclined, there’s their “kickstarter” page link right below the video….

Personally, I think Tiff did an outstanding job, but then what else would a “pops” say? She’s always had a natural Lucille Ball quality about her acting, as well as a Meryl Streep when it comes time for those Academy Award winning roles! What she does with this character is so completely out-of-character of her personality, I laugh to myself (and others) each time. You go ahead and just watch it…see for yourself. Go ahead…do it, I’ll wait……………

I bet cha you’re gonna agree with her old man on this one. Chip of the ol’ block that gurrrrl is, huh? (probably more likely I’m a chip off the ol’ daughter’s block…not that I live vicariously through either of my kids or anything)

Episode 1 was the group introduction, now each subsequent webisode will now focus on each character.  I will keep y’all posted as each episode is released, especially the one that is the FD’s character.

EDITORIAL COMMENT: turn down the volume or use your headphones…the dialogue is street-worthy and the language is colorful.

The Daily Cap (62)

a fountain like this even puts me up on the tippy toes...this kiddo was fun to watch as he enjoyed the water (as did the parents)

The Maybe Daily Cap (51)

32 years ago I started singing "You Are My Sunshine" to my baby girl. Whenever she would fuss, I would sing. And miraculously she would stop...most likely from disbelief of such a horrific sound coming from her "pops". As an infant, as a toddler, as an adolscent, as a teenager, as a high school senior, as a college student and grad, as a long-distance caller, and still to this day, I sing her that song! Happy Birthday Sweets! "...you make me happy when skies are gray". (this morning's sunrise pushing away the clouds BTW)

The Daily Cap (48)

Some days I enjoy being the long-neck guy swimming against the crowd, and then there are some days I shouldn't take so much dag-gum pleasure in doing just that.....

The Daily Cap (45)

This one-legged red-tailed hawk taught me something in the twilight of a sunset this evening: life ought to be more about balance, perseverance, where you sit, how you present yourself (notice his tail feathers are counterbalancing his one-leggedness), and posing for a picture every now and then. So what he was a-preachin', I gotta start a-practicin'. Hope I get to see more of him soon.
