The Princess – a snoot full of dirt from digging in my yard
The Prince turns 3 months old tomorrow…
He is all pup…and all moods. We’re making progress on the house training too (at least I keep telling myself that)
He sometimes gets so tired he just plops over….
Understand that typically I scold the hounds for roughing up my plants, especially when they are just flushing their spring growth, but how can I with this look?
With a Scottie, the ears are suppose to stand straight up…both of them…any time now buddy
And also with the Scottie they dig for varmints…or just maybe they do it just because sometimes….
I realize this is my third post in a week of the little Scottie, but he’s so dag-gum fun…the FD thinks we ought to refer to him as “Prince of Peat” – for the time being, we’re just calling him “Peaty”….
Even if he is still pooping and peeing in the house, he’s my kind of ornery….
He’s growing fast…
And from this you can start to see a personality in the making….
The Princess Zoey? She has fully accepted him into the Royal household…as long as he knows and keeps his place.
I remember loving this lady’s singing (way) back in high school. So tonight I catch the credits of the movie “The Family That Preys” and the closing song made me pause….”is that?…could it be?…yes it is Gladys and it’s no Midnight Train she’s belting!” Now she’s gone and got me loving her all over again. Thank you lady!
I know, some of you will be thinking I’m so far behind on this song sung some four years ago, huh? Well don’t. It is as much a song for the soul tonight as it was in 2008!
“…Promise me that you’ll give faith a fighting chance,
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.
I hope you dance….
While at lunch today I saw this light effect from a way-cool fixture over a table – I think the folks thought I was nuts when I asked them if they could hold their plates off the table…just for a second. HaHaHa. this photo blogging bit has got a hold of me :)
(through the truck windshield) Four boys try to walk the pipe fence while their hound dog watches me watching them….
This starts the first (full) week of 2013 and my vacation last week had my brain aching for photo idea challenges to follow the Project 365.
Instead of all those daily photos like last year, I’ve come up with a “P52″ self-challenge, aka a “weekly post”, list of ideas below.
Now by no means am I thinking of doing all these, but ask you guys “what ‘cha think?”. And the poll feature (that I’ve never used before) could decide my (and your) fate for the coming year….
So let’s say something like, oh I don’t know, maybe the top 3 idea votes (or suggestions) will get the nod for 2013.
Now if 7 ideas get tie votes, that means I’m back to a 365….arrrggghhhh!
Oh but what….if no one votes then I get the whole year off! No pressure y’all…or hard feelings if this poll-vote thing doesn’t work out for this blog. :)
Last year was fun – this year could be. What say you?
It’s done y’all…The 2012 Daily Cap(s) is finished with this post. It has been a family affair…with my own and my many friends down by the lake.
Over the course of the year, I actually pushed a shutter release button more than 50,000 times with 5 different cameras. My index finger is in traction now. (This is my favorite backup camera…a FugiFilm FinePix S4000).
And my left eye needs to be propped open most of the time these days. Here’s my preferred weapon of choice throughout this entire adventure (Canon 60D with a Tamron 70-300 zoom, Canon F1.4 50mm lens, and a few other lenses and filters). Not a day went bye without this guy being a friend, and having a healthy love-hate relationship with her.
It’s been a challenging year that found a need to “push hard” past many a door along the way….and had a blast doing just that!
Happy New Year you guys! Thanks for staying with me through all this! See ya in 2013….
We spent 4 days in Austin with Lincoln…and everyone else. He had a blast!
Lincoln get to tooling around, sometimes with Mom’s help….
Lincoln hanging out with Uncle Mark – he “picked” this seat on his own BTW :) ….
Then off we go back to Dallas…just in time to enjoy the hospitality of dear friends Oona and Ettore for their annual Boxing Day party with friends and a few very special young ladies.
This is the second time meeting these neat young ladies, all who have a deep loving relation with Oona and Ettore….BTW, they are watching the Flickr slideshow of last year’s party on my cell phone
Another one of the neat young ladies – the 6th girl was unable to attend this year’s party and she was missed….
The FS, FD, and FSIL were able to join in on the Boxing Day party this year. FS had 2 job interviews in Dallas, the FD and FSIL have their rescheduled (due to bad weather) flights out of DFW tomorrow….
Oona and Ettore (far right), aka wonderful hosts and friends! Happy Boxing Day you guys!
I got this idea from fellow blogger The North Edge (he did a much better job at this) – today’s pictures turned out to be not much more than a good ol’ college try experiment….
Remember my Texas Santa ornament/night light from Aunt Marilyn? He takes on a whole different look when zooming….
I think my Christmas tree needs a few hundred more lights…next year.
A new mornin’ meetin’ place in Lake Dallas should “open soon”….
Just the first of many stock stuffers to follow for the FGs Lincoln’s first Christmas will be “open(ed) soon”…pictures, obviously, to follow “soon” as well.
A glorious evening found me starting a fire in the backyard chiminea. Once it got to roaring, flames were dancing out of the flue. Then I’ll be danged if a couple potatoes did’t find there way into the coals. Backyard scouting tonight!
A burning pine cone is cradled by the flames….
More pine cones ablaze. It becomes quickly obvious how forest fires can spread so quickly when you watch this fuel ignite and burn so easily….
Now to me, the burning pine cone almost looks like butterscotch chips (you know, the cookie-making chips)….
Each of the last 4 years, the Friday before Thanksgiving, my company has a rousing, lunch hour game of flag football to raise money for a worthy cause. Past games has sent money to Children’s Hospital, a soup kitchen, and Scottish Rite. Hospital. This year our money goes to the family of a co-worker that unexpectedly passed away a few weeks ago. Whipped cream pies-in-the-face always end to this day of fundraising.
Ryan, this year’s event coordinator, gets a pie-beard (and foil cap)….
Newlywed Andrew catches one square in the chops….
For some, the pie comes to them…for others, they go to the pie.
It’s maybe only once a year that a boss catches a pie to the face and grins about it….
Austin was a real trooper here – he took this pie to the chops for his dad….
Perhaps my favorite: a double pie smack to and from Kips and Angela….
Kips wipes away the cream….
Angela searches for a wash rag….
Raymond’s Texas Longhorn shirt was just asking for it….$3000+ was raised for Tommy’s family. Great company event, gracious contributions from the employees. Can’t wait for the Christmas party now!
The adventures of a sassy, often defiant, not quite fearless pilot's wife, mother, and photographer. Join me as I globe trot the world using my travel benefits. Here I will share photographs of my travels, chronicle my journeys, and provide useful tips and information.
I previously worked as a news and sports photographer. Recently I have been enjoying wildlife photography. My approach toward bird photos is similar to sports photography. I attempt to capture mostly action and hopefully a unique perspective.
