Here Comes Spring

20130422-071826.jpg
Hang on while I look this up (I really should know it without having to do that)

20130422-072047.jpg
The neighbor-down-the-street’s Prickly Pear is showing a spring awakening

The fish must be “runnin’”! By my count (and mental math) this is nearly 3.2 poles per fisherman…all within arm’s reach or a few steps from each other.

The Lake At Dusk Daily Cap(s) (329)

Sometimes you CAN find a bit of fall color in north Texas….

Calling it a night….

The last glimpse of sunlight…

Yard lights reflect across the cove….

The guard shack at night….

The Fowl Daily Cap(s) (312)

Standing on the promises…of something to eat

I these guys literally came marching up the bank without a care in the world….

…until they saw the likes of me (dang, but kind of cool, slow shutter speed – talk about being camera un-ready)

OK…I know….what a Limeyfish.com post without a “fisherman-on-the-shoreline-at-sunset” photo, right?

The Fishing At Sundown Daily Cap(s) (309)

So long Daylight Savings Time (why do they mess with us like they do?)…the days are getting shorter and the sunset has moved south on the horizon, all that means is my timing is way off and I need to scope out new vantage points for evening picture-taking.

The fisherman were also struggling with the earlier sunset, I think….

Heading to the boat ramp….

The water even took on a partially frozen look….

These two weren’t, but they certainly were watching…the fishing.

The Leaving Kansas Daily Cap(s) (302)

Awaiting arrivals….

Fishing in 34° early morning weather…egads!

Milford Lake’s boat ramp is out of service…the drought continues in Kansas

Somebody round up the local high school basketball kids…the Canadian team has flown in and looking for a pick-up game down at the Milford City Park….

Outdoor dining, Kansas style!

The Sneezy-Fishy-Scissory Daily Cap(s) (280)

A sneeze-maker (actually this native Goldenrod’s pollen is not near as potent as the crud that comes from ragweed, Johnsongrass, and the like)….

A guy dedicated to the sport…it was 30° cooler today than yesterday, and he’s out on the lake

These Scissortail Flycatchers are quickly becoming a favorite of mine to just sit, watch, chuckle, and snap pictures at them….

This guy has the longest tail, and he leaps tall buildings in a single bound….

And he knew his tail made him special too….

The Catch-The-Morning-Light Daily Cap(s) (266 – T-minus 100)

Looking for that just right fishing spot….

Found our spot! Now, let’s first get some minnows caught….

Hey out there! Wake up! You’re burning daylight!

Not a bad way to spend your weekend…basking (glowing) in the sunrise.

The Down By The Lake Daily Cap(s) (259)

It looks like this tree has been through a lot….

This time of year the blooms can be found only on a few plants….

Now where did I put my native plants book?

Not all fish caught are kept or thrown back….

The Sunday Random Daily Cap(s) (232)

Grasshoppers seem to be posing for every photo right now….

It does me good to see a young kid fishing….

Bending the pole, landing the catch….

I had so much “get” to choose from, I “got” up and went without….

Grilling bratwursts….

The Zoe-Bird…helping with the grilling

The Random Trio Tuesday Daily Cap(s) (199)

Getting back to shore before sundown….

Post Oak leaves with the setting sun upon on them

The Queen Mackie – after a second day of IV stuff, seems to be doing a little better today. At least she’s talking to me again :)

The Saturday Morn Daily Cap(s) (196)

A Scissortail stopped by to see what I was up to so dang early in the morning….

It was a beautiful sunrise this morning with a ribbon of cloud framing the view….

A lone turkey out for his sunrise stroll along the water’s edge….

What a show off…

And the fishermen gathered….

Judging from the size of his fishing pole, I would venture to guess this man has bountiful expectations this morning….

Many of the meadow wildflowers have faded, but their golden glow in the morning light can still catch the eye….

A gang of spent wildflowers still stand tall and proud (looks like Lemon Mint to me)…

And you can occasionally find a solitary wheat stalk with kernels ready to drop amongst the prairie grasses and wildflowers….

Weekly Photo Challenge: Fleeting Moment

Sorry y’all. I got started and didn’t really want to quit on this challenge….

A fleeting moment….

My kids…some 30 years ago. Wow.

FD and FSoIL – wading in a cold stream during Christmas vacation a few years back

My father-in-law while opening his Christmas gifts last year (oh how I hope he doesn’t see this…)

A hot air balloon makes an emergency landing down the street…

An approaching storm

The guys at our 35th high school reunion last fall…oh my how time has fleeted

A brown bear (with a blond strip down her back) in Canada last fall – I was ready to flee in a heartbeat

My brothers and Dad after a shore lunch in Canada last fall (they didn’t know I took this photo…and I’ve often wondered what they were saying to each other)

Bald Eagle looking to snatch something….

A young couple…taking in the moment

Kids at the water’s edge….

A pending happy family reunion at the airport

In passing one should take in the view….

You’ve got to be quick…and lucky sometimes

The respect and silence is humbling….

Another fleeting magic moment…

The Fisherman Daily Cap(s) (181)

“Life is good today” – does anyone else hum that Zac Brown Band “Toes” song when looking at this, besides me? All he needs is a guitar and “a PBR on the way”….

This Heron – and believe you me I’ve spent many a hours watching – is an excellent fisherman

A young boy goes fishing. Cast away….

I’m all for spending a Friday night fishing rather than seeing kids on the streets doing mischief….
