The TGIF Daily Cap(s) (153)

Good Friday morning

The Friday morning gathering of a bunch of quacks….

The first Friday of every June is National Donut Day – shouldn’t that be every day?

The spray park opens on this particular Friday…

A sunflowery Friday morning….

A cool looking shack along the side of the rode on a Friday morning drive-about

I can shoot overexposed butterfly pictures on any day, not just Fridays. (but there is something dramatically appealing about this photo, agreed?)

Even when you’re expected, wandering about the ball park on a Friday morning taking pictures (and not just of goofy shots of me in front of odd signs or eating donuts in the parking lot) certainly brings out inquisitive folks (and cops)…

A Friday morning breakfast picnic at sunrise….nothing beats that

The Friday evening nightcap at Rooster’s….now let’s see here, hmmmm….donut in the morning then a cheeseburger, pulled pork nachos, and a cold beer tonight. No wonder I’ve got a gut ache and my tonnage-loss program has been significantly compromised.

The Pre-Wedding Daily Cap (146)

Today OFNi Whitney and Stephen are fiancés…tomorrow they will be Bride and Groom. In the mean time, the stress is obviously building….

The Spa Day Daily Caps(s) (144)

Mackie Queen of Scots showing off her spa day results….

Zoey the Princess sporting her new spa day clip….

Hey, now wait a minute…this guy got no where near the spa day with the Scotties so what’s up with the youthfully obnoxious shorts?

The Desk Junk Daily Cap(s) (137)

These certainly do not help my tonnage-loss program…but dang they’re good!

Been on my desk since last fall…just waiting for a cough I guess…

Camera stuff – of course….

Starting to look a bit scoffed up and well-used….

These are to my “drive-by-shooter” FugiFilm camera as dark chocolate is to my tastebuds….

A little bit of everything to treat what might be ailing ya (except for the Princess Zoey vet bottle for a stool sample…no worries, it’s still empty y’all)

Not on my desk, but still an every night occurrence: Princess Zoey takes on the front yard gecko through my office window…..

Trying a bit of an unusual snack these days…please don’t think anything less of me for it….

But these will always trump the seaweed…duh!

Now which political campaign spouting another set of falsehoods could that be?

iPad cover, Mackie Queen of Scots medicine, and sketch books…always have plenty of sketch books around

My iTunes account wants to know if these might be of interest to me. Anyone know any of these guys?

Thunderbolts and Lightning

A song that every Dad should teach his children to sing , regardless of their age or seating accomodations, while in the car or anywhere the mood strikes…

The Zoey+More Down By the Lake Daily Cap(s) (134)

Zoey: This would by the goofy Princess Zoey, Scottie #2 owning the house (or at least the easy chair). She sleeps like this often….

More: Rudbeckia down by the lake

More: Thistle, down by the lake

More: another Rudbeckia (down by the lake)….

More: I’m not sure what this is…yet…down by the lake

More: being bugged…down by the lake (a couple chiggers were had for these pics)

The Watching Me Watching You Daily Cap(s) (128)

You may have thought you were hiding…

or perhaps the cover gave you some sense of security….

Or was it all that water that gave you thought you could always “duck” under and hide (Hey you ol’ coot! The turtle was giving your position away)…

Or could it have been you just needed to sit on the fence for a while on this one issue…

Regardless, it didn’t keep me from watching you watching me watching you….HA!

The Catapulting Daily Cap(s) (111)

Many came out to watch the company "catapult" competition at noon. Four teams competed - they had restrictions to follow in building a catapult. The goal was to launch five projectilse approximately 30 feet to a target for points, all within a time limit. It was fun!

A father and son team...with a bicycle wheel catapult

Line up the shot...

...pull the trigger

We had the Sergio-Jericho team...with a wood slingshot catapult (complete with a stained finish) that shot the ammo backwards as much as it did forward...look out camera guy (me)

The fine tuning didn't help much...

Setting up for the shot...

These guys ended up winning the competition...but not before making precise measurements of the counterbalance weights for their catapult.

3...2...1...FIRE! A weight-drop catapult design

The other father and son team took a few seconds to play in the sandbox (where they had to set their catapult)

This was the "flinging half-wiffle ball" catapult....

...with a pull chain

Competition was fierce, concentration was intense...fun was had!

Winners were woo-ed, champions were crowned, bonds were bound, and noses were picked ("come on Dad, hurry it up why don't cha") ... LOL!

The FD is sensational again

Here we go! The FD (Favorite Daughter) is web-sensational again. If you recall the “Group The Webseries” released episode 1 a few weeks ago with

My FD, The Internet Sensation.

Now, episode #2 is “her’s”:

Use this link if the Vimeo above doesn’t show up and/or poops out for you:

I can choose a positive frame of mind

‘aire she is…in all her acting glory. The BFA is paying off and gainful theatre employment is right around the corner! (yes I too choose a “positive frame of mind”). If you know T, this is so not her personality…which only makes it more funny. And for those of you that don’t know her, your missing out. Watch the video and then think the opposite of her character (then come see her next time she’s back for a visit).

The Apparently Summers Here Daily Cap(s) (106)

Nothing like having a fun, friendly family soccer game during the Sunday afternoon picnic outing...except for the one guy who looks a bit chapped about something...or maybe he's just cutting through.

...and the little girl could care less about some silly old game of kicking a ball around...she's got some orange shoes that deserve her undivided attention right now...that, and a cool refreshing soda.

a family jet ski outing...

The size of your boat really doesn't matter, nor the way it moves across the water...

...Just as long as the dang thing floats!

Wonder what the investment in this guy's fishing pole is....

...this guy has his investments under control...all you need is one pole with a bobber (and a pair of chest waders comes in handy at times)

...but these guys, holy cow...another one of those "family that fishes together" sort of gatherings - I have a gut feeling their pole-investment is not the priority here...

Now this, I'm all for: get cha a small Zebco pole from the local discounter and give it a heave-ho sidearm cast...and I bet this kiddo is full of questions

Show off...

Seriously?

OK, you're good...enough of you and your fancy water skiing..'Hey Buddy! It's only April. It's supposed to still be a bit chilly out here on the lake. Grab a towel"

And so the kid has to show me a trick or two as well...

Does it get any better than a kid's dog anxiously waiting and proudly watching from the dock? I think not. This is good stuff...

The Not-In-My-Backyard Daily Cap(s) (103)

These two soon realized that this pool had a "no lifeguard on duty" policy...so there they sat pitifully longing for a nice cool dip in the pool

I called this kid's backyard recreation somewhat "ingenious". The property manager I was with during our morning property walk called it "redneck"....

A favorite tree...the hickory has a great trunk and bark pattern

The Peers, Colleagues, and Damn Them Convention Center Carpets Daily Cap(s) (96)

Leave it to a landscape architect to have such a handsome lime sherbet jacket (the patterned purple shirt up close was even better)...sorry for the lack of focus gang, but I bet you can get the gist.

Meet my first boss out of college, Bill...he's still wonders why he ever hired me

My dear friend and former champion rollerskater Traci (we grew up professionally together don't cha know) enjoying the figure 8 railroad tracks found in the convention center carpet

Who designs this? When does the inspiration hit? What kind of music do they listen to? Are they Facebook likable?

What is it about convention center carpets that fascinate me? (see above pic questions)

The 88˚ and Sun(day) Daily Cap(s) (92)

88˚ and Sun(day)...and pushing the limits of your boundaries

88˚ and Sun(day)...and Indian Paintbrush responding....

88˚ and Sun(day)...and big boats and catching a few rays where you can

88˚ and Sun(day)...and half nakedness on boats partying on the lake (and for a reason that only beer and sunshine could probably explain, the one guy in the red cap has a toy gun holstered to his leg)

88˚ and Sun(day)...and that probably has little to do with this Superman casting technique

88˚ and Sun(day)...and my backyard Sour Cherry Tree in bloom

88˚and Sun(day)...one week from Easter, and the Royal Scotties are still fashionably wearing black

The Old McDonald Had A Farm Daily Cap(s) (88)

Curvaceous patterns one can just stare at for hours (or at least until the farmer drives up and wants to know what in the world you're up to)

Coming downstairs to say "hello"

He was grouchy this morning

"Heyyyy Donk-key!"

Has that look that if he were in school, the bullies would come after him...or is it that he has the look of a bully?

They appeared out of nowhere and landed on this lawn...I was truly diggin' it!

The Foggy Daily Cap(s) (85)

When fishing gets rude, I wonder what fishermen say to each other when a trolling motor crosses much too close? "Hey, it's a big lake here guys!"

A foggy sunrise

With a glorious sunrise, cool temps, and a banded fog like this...well...doesn't it kinda makes you want to run through it with your arms flailing overhead and babbling incoherently? Or is it just me?

Now this exhibit of concentration was about as educational as it was entertaining, and as it was comical. Four males blindly chasing the female...I couldn't tell whether she enjoyed the attention or feared it. Ahhh spring is in the air!

My Zoe-Bird...The Royal Princess Zoey will always strike a great pose for me.

The Odd Daily Cap(s) (83)

This morning's sunrise

The regular crowd shuffles in....

Rippling at the shoreline

And then at lunch...after 30 some years on not playing competitive basketball...I try to keep up with guys about half my age (it was not a pretty thing) (thanks JoeM for taking my camera off my desk and sneaking a few photos...thanks a whole lot)

After all these years I'm still try to show a left-handed game...

And a right-handed game...

Regardless of the handedness, I'm just not very good any more (not that I ever was). But you know last year at this time, there would be no way I could have gone 3 games with these punks. Thank heavens for the tonnage-loss program! Now if only I could do something about the stiff and soreness aftermath...

The Nesting Daily Cap(s) (76)

I have to fight the curosity-urge (and maybe I shouldn't) to go up and knock on the door just so I can visit with the person that does this sort of thing. (I hope they didn't stump the trees just to place the birdhouses)

They might have more bird houses than they have birds....

Fun(ny) With the FD

Today, at the Fort Worth Botanical Gardens…we had a moment to express some fun we had knocking about today. FD goes home tomorrow morn :(

The Airport Daily Cap(s) (70)

I love people watching at the airport…but please excuse the fuzzy iPhone pictures…you’ll get the idea

Taking pictures at the airport of incredibly baggy bell-bottomed (and high water) pants....

Taking pictures at the airport of the we-didn't-mean-to-both-wear-white-coats ladies....

Taking pictures at the airport and appreciating the fact I'm not the only one that travels with more than one hat....

Taking pictures at the airport of a way-cool, smiling-making "welcome home" sign....

Taking pictures at the airport of others taking pictures at the airport...

Taking pictures at the airport of one worker needing to escort the other with an oversized parcel....

Taking pictures at the airport of a couple old(er) guys waiting for someone (just like me!)....

Taking pictures at the airport of a kid's dad not willing to help out with the backpack....

Taking pictures at the airport knowing the 48 degree temps outside the terminal will make this girl wish she had longer pants....

Taking pictures at the airport of a bouncing baby boy and a plaid-boot styling mom....

Taking pictures at the airport of the guy really confident in his masculinity...

Taking pictures at the airport of others happy to see each other....

Taking pictures at the airport of a profiling shady character....

Taking pictures at the airport of the kid with bigger and more luggage than the parent....

Taking pictures at the airport of a hyper kid....

Taking pictures at the airport of someone a bit anxious and someone not so much....

Taking pictures at the airport with the reverse camera....

Taking pictures at the airport of FD coming through the gate...

POW 3-7-2012

For those of you that follow or happen across this blog, please know I do an email distribution of odd, funny, peculiar, and sometimes cool photos discovered throughout any given week. Most of the photos are of signs, or drive-by and/or while-driving observations. Now please understand, I’m not always regular (probably a poor choice of word there) with my POW (Pictures Of the Week) emails. I’ll try to be more consistent, and by posting here we’ll see if that so moves me to be better about my regularity.

These photos are different (at least up to this point in time) than ”The Daily Cap” series. And for those of you already on the email list that also read my blog, you get POW’d twice….

1/28/2012: Carrollton, Texas

I’m not sure whether the wind blew away the rest of the signs, or if this is it…”as” if this will make be stop and shop cars, right?
