Somewhere out there I reckon there is a mighty fine country song just right for this picture….

Walking a Neighborhood in Bloom

My backyard Sour Cherry Tree (and not another pollinator anywhere close that I know of)

Sneaking a picture of neighbor’s Daylily (this took some “stealth photography” exercises in order not to alert the yappy dogs of my encroachment)

Petunias greet the postman every Spring day next door…

I’ve had these Spiderlilies at my front door for many years, although the blooms get less each year as my trees give too much shade (a Jamaican gardener I once knew called these “Trashy Ladies”…he had his reasons and I’ll leave it at that)

Why is it a rose – or that by any other name – poses such a photographic challenge for me…every blooming time?

A Clematis twines the neighbor’s mailbox

Spent roses (Hey! Now these are roses I can photograph!)

Just about to burst open to delight all that take notice….

A neighbor practicing his own version of a rooftop garden…apparently

Spring Already?

Surprised? Nawww, not these two youngens…the mild temps had them a bit playful and with the Scottie Princess Zoey whimpering at them, at my side, gave me a momentary pose of curiosity to capture….

…that is until they go and do something like this! What did they think this was, Valentine’s Day or something? The Princess and I just looked at each other in disbelief after this oh-so-brief public display of affection (trust me on this – Scotties know these types of things should not be a common, every day occurrence).

The Weather It’s Christmas Daily Cap(s) (351)

Nine days before Christmas and its 75° – Frosty has lost his hat, turned his back to the street, broke his arm, and longs for snow on a Christmas tree that is outside the house….

Wait a minute…aren’t these guys supposed to be in Mexico or someplace further south about this time of year? Don’t hold me to it but I think these butterflies are juvenille “Painted Lady”.

I’m thinking Zoey should have snow balls hanging from her beard this time of year instead of pine needles….

So tonight, over a cup of Oolong tea, I experimented – same “pose” and different results…this shot was without a flash…can you make out the silhouette?

Each of the last 4 years, the Friday before Thanksgiving, my company has a rousing, lunch hour game of flag football to raise money for a worthy cause. Past games has sent money to Children’s Hospital, a soup kitchen, and Scottish Rite. Hospital. This year our money goes to the family of a co-worker that unexpectedly passed away a few weeks ago. Whipped cream pies-in-the-face always end to this day of fundraising.

My beloved Kansas State Wildcats traveled to Fort Worth to play the TCU Horned Frogs…I had great seats along side a great friend….and the Cats won!

You will need to forgive my photographic skills with this post – I did not have the media guy’s high dollar equipment, but merely my iPhone and shirt-pocket Canon to “snap” photos….
The Caps, C(K)ids, and Cameras (307)

Each year at work we hold a tailgate party – clients are invited to a lunch BBQ and everyone is encouraged to show their favorite college spirit. This year…not so many hats were worn

You can probably imagine some of the “smack” conversations going around with so much Texas school apparel being worn.

Monday morning at the lake park gives discovery of several items left behind over the weekend…stuff that just ain’t natural.

The State Fair of Texas Daily Cap(s) (281)

Food at the State Fair of Texas is all about the 70-year old business of making Fletcher Corny Dogs….

You know you’re in Texas, at the State Fair when the hood of the golf carts are decorated as one would expect…..

Happened upon the Pillsbury pie judging – I LIKE PIE! but I would be danged if these ladies wouldn’t give me a fork for a taste….

Oh geez…you figured out quickly your in the textile area of the Creative Arts Building when their golf cart is covered in…in…in yarn stuff

Dancing in the streets! (The Children Alpine Dancers) – made me break out in true Von Trapp family song “Edelvise, Edelvise…hum hum (couldn’t remember the words, nor could the folks on either side of me)

I wonder how Mom and Little Brother convinced Dad and Big Brother to push them around the State Fair….
The Professional Choice Daily Cap(s) (270)

One fun part of my job lets me best-pick material for various projects. This one needed a letter color picked. Which one did I choose? Classy Brass? Coffee Brown? Brilliantly Black?

I have a niece who, for the longest time, thought I (a landscape architect) did nothing more than design sidewalks. I hope she doesn’t see this and think I had anything to do with it!
The Odd Tuesday Daily Cap(s) (269)

It was an unusually windy morning and I figured the sunrise would be less than spectacular. It turned out colorfully OK – glad I was there to see it….

So I went back to the giant spider web this morning and found another creepy-crawler moving into the same territory. I always knew I didn’t like snakes…now I don’t like spiders. He moved…I ran away flailing my arms and slinging my Canon wildly over my head because don’t you know his elastic-man, incredibly far-reaching vicious teeth were about to chomp into me….

What a lousy commute to work I had this morning (don’t ask!). Now I realize this photo is horribly out of focus and without much creative composition since it was “snapped” through the windshield of my truck, but while impatiently idling in stopped traffic this guy spoke to my camera while standing on the side of the road. Love the yellow gradations on the petals of this sunflower.

Many of y’all know I’ve got this thing (more like an obsession) about photographing homemade signs and in particular, those of entrepreneurs that do their own vehicle advertising. This one capped off the day (I was almost out of daylight). I think I can guess what “PATIO COBERS” are based on the rest of his “stylized” advertising (the side of the trailer was even better but I couldn’t get the picture)….
