2013 marks 15 years without me getting to call her on this day, or any other day for that matter…

It is satisfying to know she still has a way of saying "hello" even after all these years.

Moms do love flowers. My mom was no exception. I take comfort knowing she still has a way of saying “hello” even after all these years.

Call your mom, give her hug, plant a perennial flower so she can always make you smile.

I’m all for everyone having a Spring-blooming, perennial flower planted somewhere in the yard…just for Mom. It is a happy Mother’s Day today.

Understand that typically I scold the hounds for roughing up my plants, especially when they are just flushing their spring growth, but how can I with this look?

With a Scottie, the ears are suppose to stand straight up…both of them…any time now buddy

And also with the Scottie they dig for varmints…or just maybe they do it just because sometimes….

Weekly Photo Challenge: Beyond

Since I posted so many dag-gum photos last year, I went back a a couple years and found so other photos that might…could work for this week’s photo challenge. At least that way, you long-time followers may have forgotten about some of these. And you know me, I cannot share just one photo:

Two kids unknown to me was captured tossing pebbles into the great "beyond"...and it looks like there was a conversation to their purpose as well...

The Barbershop Quartet Daily Cap(s) (349)

Just as my heart aches for those in Connecticut today, I am reminded of the sadness felt some 15 years ago...it was on this day I lost my Mom. And so to photographed this now 34 year old embrodery she did for me. She knew it then and I still to this day love the sounds of barbershop harmonies. I know you rest in peace Mom.

Just as my heart aches for those in Connecticut today, I am somewhat selfishly reminded of the sadness felt some 15 years ago as it was on this day then my Mom died. In her memory I photographed this treasured 34 year old embroidery she made for me. She knew then and as it is still to this day, I love the sounds of good barbershop quartet harmony. I know you rest in peace Mom and that you take the hands of those innocent victims of the day and welcome them into God’s glory.

The Pie Toss Daily Cap(s) (321)

Each of the last 4 years, the Friday before Thanksgiving, my company has a rousing, lunch hour game of flag football to raise money for a worthy cause. Past games has sent money to Children’s Hospital, a soup kitchen, and Scottish Rite. Hospital. This year our money goes to the family of a co-worker that unexpectedly passed away a few weeks ago. Whipped cream pies-in-the-face always end to this day of fundraising.

Ryan, this year’s event coordinator, gets a pie-beard (and foil cap)….

Newlywed Andrew catches one square in the chops….

For some, the pie comes to them…for others, they go to the pie.

It’s maybe only once a year that a boss catches a pie to the face and grins about it….

Austin was a real trooper here – he took this pie to the chops for his dad….

Perhaps my favorite: a double pie smack to and from Kips and Angela….

Kips wipes away the cream….

Angela searches for a wash rag….

Raymond’s Texas Longhorn shirt was just asking for it….$3000+ was raised for Tommy’s family. Great company event, gracious contributions from the employees. Can’t wait for the Christmas party now!

The Tag Teaming with the FD Daily Cap(s) (317)

From the cell phone camera of the FD today – I’m so incredibly proud of her and the FSIL – comes this photo of the fog rolling in on the Verrazono-Narrows bridge in NYC (connecting Brooklyn and Staten Island)

The two of them paid the bridge toll on their way to yet another day of Hurricane Sandy volunteering for those more dramatically affect than they were…where did she get such gracious, caring, and giving heart? (from her Mom for sure) (FD’s photo that I “sepia’d” for a kind of cool effect, don’t cha think? Hope the FD doesn’t mind the liberties taken with her photo)

Look here what they came upon in route to their place of volunteering – this may literally be a “house” boat for all I know…. (photo by FD)

And their day of volunteering was spent removing sheetrock and gutting the hurricane-damaged basement of someone’s home…(photo by FD)

Back in Texas, my day ended with a photograph of the silverware caddy in the comfort of a well-lighted, warm kitchen….

and the plunger-cup tea steeper for my nightly night cap of white tea…so that (tea) leaves little question to who’s day was more meaningful and fulfilling, agreed?

The Saturday Boot Scootin’ Football Daily Cap(s) (315)

My beloved Kansas State Wildcats traveled to Fort Worth to play the TCU Horned Frogs…I had great seats along side a great friend….and the Cats won!

It was a very purple crowd….

You will need to forgive my photographic skills with this post – I did not have the media guy’s high dollar equipment, but merely my iPhone and shirt-pocket Canon to “snap” photos….

The pre-game saw pants of wild-ness….

And costumes from the book of out-there-ness….

But what caught my eye the most were the boots…TCU gals wear skirts and boots to the football games for crying out loud!

Purple Leggins and Boots….

And Just Purplely Decorated Boots….

Black and Brown Boots….

And Boots with “FROGS” on the heel….hey wait a minute lady, where are your boots?

We got your all Purple Boots….

And a walking closet of Boots….

Bare leg and Blue Jean Boots….

Tall Boots….

Fuzzy Boots….

Shoes amongst the Many Boots….

Ahhh yes! The occasional Wildcat Boots would come along….

The junior Frog had no Boots….

And guy’s boring shoes kept hiding the Boots from me….

We had your Tennis Shoes, Knee Braces, and Boots….

And TCU Boots next to Sneakers….

Strappin’ Boots….

Sandals with heels and Boots….

Boots standing, and Boots walking away Boots….

Shoes, Flip Flops and TCU Boots at the curb….

And Curly, Pointy Toed Boots….

The think the Cheerleaders should have Boots….

I really could have used my “good” camera this night, but my “bitty” camera got my point across….The Cats gave the Frogs the “boot” 23-13

Standing on the promises…of something to eat

I these guys literally came marching up the bank without a care in the world….

…until they saw the likes of me (dang, but kind of cool, slow shutter speed – talk about being camera un-ready)

OK…I know….what a Limeyfish.com post without a “fisherman-on-the-shoreline-at-sunset” photo, right?

The Park-ing-it Daily Cap(s) (308)

Klyde Warren Park between downtown Dallas and uptown Dallas open last weekend….

An urban park destined for becoming one of Dallas’ most popular….

It spans over a 6-lane freeway and is flanked by high-rise buildings (some casting quite the glare)…

The dog park, although small, is very popular….

Families find shade in the downtown building shadows….

Ping pong can be played while at the park…

Kids are everywhere – portable tables and chairs are as well….

You can take in a friendly, yet competitive game of chess if you so choose….

Game over!

Even found a K-State family using the lawn expanse for a little exercise – Go Cats!

Walkways, gateways, funways….

The From Dallas Hurricane Sandy Morning After Daily Cap(s) (304)

If it isn’t full, it’s pert-en-near this morning….it still made the tides large on the east coast

The sky begins to glow….I’d like to say these are clouds from the Hurricane but I doubt it

The birds take flight in the morning light….

But some birds hold their position and simply take in the morning. I text’d FD this morning in NYC after seeing this sunrise coming, with a sense all was well with her and FSIL…and it was

I need confirmation from Aunt Marilyn or Cuz Brent, but I’m kind of certain the young lady with blond hair is my 2nd cousin Karissa…she’s a Classy Cat even if this isn’t her….

Down there in that mass of purple…here come the Wildcats!

Coach Snyder (the young white-haired guy going into the special teams huddle) is King of Manhattan and all of the Wildcat Nation….

Not too bad of a shot…from 30 rows up, right?

The goofy Wildcat fan seated to the right of me (it was 33° and the guy had no fashion, or pants, or coat, or sense….but he was loved by the entire crowd of purple)

Willie the Wildcat exciting the crowd with his “K” – “S” – “U” chant and dance! Cat’s win big over Texas Tech! Thanks Willie!

The KSU Homecoming Weekend Daily Cap(s) (300)

Road Trip!!!! My 30th college class reunion! You know you’re getting close to Manhattan (KS) when the water towers are properly adorned with the ‘Powercat’. Let the reminiscing begin.

A few stragglers from the Homecoming Parade…”the pride of Wildcat Land”

the famous Call Hall dairy sciences ice cream parlor – having a “Purple Pride” ice cream and a rush of fond memories of buying, back-in-the-day, a dozen eggs and a gallon of milk to feed the wife, FD, and me for $2….total. This one scope of ice cream, 30 years later, well…it cost me $3 so I ate it reeeaaaallll slooooowww with a grin on my face.

the true 1950′s-built barracks where we lived – aka married student housing – has been replaced with this….and they have the audacity to say “Founded 1957″ for these apartments built 3 years ago?

A tavern in Aggieville – a reference/likeness to our beloved football coach? Only partially for sure!

Everyone that reads/follows my blog is encouraged to go vote and vote often for Rod – he’s my college classmate and all-around good guy (but he didn’t want me to walk the parade route with him for some reason).

Holy cow…only the paint color on the press boxes have changed. I happened upon Cico Park, home of my summer job umpiring unruly young men playing baseball for their all-knowing volunteer coaches (it was on the “blue” field that I tossed out of the game my first, and only, coach…and did so quite loudly and with a whole lot of theatre I might add).

Don’t we all end up taking a picture of our weekend accommodations? Or is it just me?
