While in town last week on business (sort of), I got to spend time with the FS, FDIL, and The FGs Lincoln! Although he didn’t quite know what to think of me since it had been 6 weeks since I last saw (held) him, he warmed up with some wonderful conversation in no time….
We then went for a short walk (from the car to the restaurant), the FS, Lincoln, and me….
Here he is: the FGs. Lincoln turned one year old on Monday, but the celebration started the Saturday before.
I think he’s glad the big #1 is finally here!

We got to see the FGs on Saturday. And of course I took about a bajillion photos of him. But it was this video sent by the FS yesterday that topped anything I could photograph….

We spent 4 days in Austin with Lincoln…and everyone else. He had a blast!

Then off we go back to Dallas…just in time to enjoy the hospitality of dear friends Oona and Ettore for their annual Boxing Day party with friends and a few very special young ladies.
This is the second time meeting these neat young ladies, all who have a deep loving relation with Oona and Ettore….BTW, they are watching the Flickr slideshow of last year’s party on my cell phone
Another one of the neat young ladies – the 6th girl was unable to attend this year’s party and she was missed….
The FS, FD, and FSIL were able to join in on the Boxing Day party this year. FS had 2 job interviews in Dallas, the FD and FSIL have their rescheduled (due to bad weather) flights out of DFW tomorrow….

The FS and FDIL got to Halloween with The Little Man, the dinosaur, the FGs Lincoln tonight…and they sent the photos for today’s post (rest assured I did take pictures even though they didn’t make the cut tonight) :)

The FDIL (aka “Mom” to Lincoln) made his (and her) very first Halloween costume! It turned out great – maybe a bit long in the legs, but great nonetheless!

I don’t remember the last time I read Dr. Seuss…maybe 30 years ago…to Lincoln’s dad. Don’t we all need an “Ish wish dish”….
Sometimes life follows a straight line. Sometimes the path is an array of color. And then sometimes you have to paint over the holes in life and just keep going….
For if we stop or skip over any one step of our journey, we might miss out on friends gracing us with sweetness, giggles, and Cowboy princesses….
And the teaching of life experience between the family generations may wane. Thanks Dad for everything that you are – a gentleman, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, friend, and life model. Hope you had a great birthday today. Wish I had been there with you to eat cake.

Lincoln and FS – ya think they like each other? We got us some tug-of-war with the burp rag going on here.
Silly boy.
So he got this new jumper a couple weeks ago. It obviously has all sorts of colorful “things” dangling, hanging, and twirling. So when this picture came yesterday my reply was it he looks like he’s wearing some kind of playful, colorful matador hat. I got no reply from the group…hmmm. Ole’ kiddo – come see your grandpa soon – leave the bull behind! Love you…gramps
We first had breakfast at a popular Austin iconic restaurant…this was bummer news, so I had water….I’ll show them!
Then look who showed up…sleeping of all things (but not for long when G-pa is around – sorry Mom/Dad)…hehehe
“Everybody pee before we hit the road”…and look what I find on the toilet room door. Yup, a toe door opener. I like this! But it doesn’t work well when wearing flip-flops, nor does it seem right to pull out your cell phone camera in a public restroom. Lord only knows what might happen next if you’re caught in the act…of a restroom photograph.
An old house-turned-picnic shelter…if only we had known to pack a lunch….
It goes without saying that we had to let our actor FD knock on each and every door, window, and opening in the exterior wall. She really wanted to see the inside of this theatre (in Salado Texas BTW) – no luck and we decided not to wait 5 hours for the evening performance….
I remember hot summer days doing this very thing….maybe even a time or two wearing a whole lot less aparrel than these kids (excuse the blur – I was photographing on the low water crossing bridge, in a moving vehicle, with traffic impatiently tolerating my slow speed.
