The Daily Cap (27)

While waiting this morning for the Cardinals, Woodpeckers, Chickadees, and Mockingbirds to wake up, today's sunrise peaks out and lights up a select group of fence row trees (and if look beyond, you see tree tops aglow as well). Pretty cool?

The Daily Cap (23)

The one (and only) good thing about West Texas blowing into town last night is the dust makes for a beautiful sunrise.

The Daily Cap (19)

That she is a stately (Post) Oak with a true stature of magnificance...even in the winter. And especially when seen standing in front of a beautiful sunrise glow.

The Daily Cap (15)

With so much going on at daybreak - geese flying, fishermen fishing, the sun a rising, a chilly nip to the morning air - am I the only one that likes to, as the day awakens and a sunrise warms your face, plug in the headphones and listen to the "String Quintet In e Major: Minuet"? Oh yeah, see there, I figured as much....

I'm still trying to find something wrong with this morning's sunrise, and I just can't...not even on this, a Friday the 13th

The early morning peeks over downtown Fort Worth on the historic First Christian Church (this is a way cool building...been in it, got the personal tour one afternoon just by dropping in on the staff and asking about the building); http://www.fccftw.org/

Morning light

Most regular readers to this blog know I am a bit bonkers about photographing sunrises and sunsets. So for a change in scenry, I happened across this early morning sunrise photo on Saturday while driving through Flower Mound.

Nothing like an inspirational glimpse at God casting His morning light on the steeple of His house. And I doubt He minds much with the red hawk sitting on the cross of His house of worship either.

Berl & Company

One benefit of my employment is a perk that affords spirtual counseling if and whenever the need might arise. A couple pastors come to our office a few times per month and check in on each employee. Obviously, friendships, fellowships, and trust develop between all of us. Berl is one of the pastors that stops by each week. His visits are welcomed in our Fort Worth office.

Thursday, Berl and his lovely wife Verna had a few of us over for lunch and to seek free advice on his emaculate back yard landscape. “We”, being the landscape architects and horticulture fanantics amongst the ranks, accepted his invitiation. Such advice was given (not much – he could probably tell us a thing or two if the truth were to be known); a delightful lunch was served…so much for my tonnage-loss program today.

Here are a few captured captures (pictures) from the 90 minutes of mid-day relaxation with many good friends:

Weekly Photo Challenge: Morning

Now this is something I’ve got a whole lot of pictures of….

Most of you limeyfishers know how I like my sunrises over the lake. So I went through the 1,000+ photos of sunrises and pick a few favorites. Then I debated on whether to post them in this “challenge”. So I searched a bit more . I may have stretched the challenge (maybe I don’t think so now) by taking “morning” and figuring what  pictures I had that showed something happening then.

What cha think?

It was a good morning…

…back in mid-January. With the cool weather the last couple mornings I remembered this draft post I never completed.

Overnight, a heavy fog settled over the lake. The waters were calm. It was me and the ducks, gulls, and one grouchy egret. One ought to take a recording device of some kind and capture the squawking everyone makes at dawn’s first light.

The Last Good Morning…

…of the year. 2010 ended with subtle sunrise so I went about capturing it’s sleepy awaking at a totally different spot this morning (a bit further away than usual…about 2.5 miles from the house).

The moonrise wasn’t too far ahead of the sunrise this morning. And the ducks were restless – we must have a change in the weather headed our way in north Texas.

Totally lunar

It was a cool night and the moon was a center stage all night long. A lunar eclipse on the day of winter solstice – one that last happened in 1638. The next time it occurs on the solstice will be in 2094, according to NPR. BTW, the YouTube below is not mine.

I got the sunrise and moon set this morning…that in itself was kind of cool as I kept switching from the east, 180° to the west, and back and forth and back and forth, messing with different camera exposure settings. Whew, already tired…. Read More…
