Thursday Morning Finds

Went for a walk with the Princess Zoey this morning...she gave me a somewhat classic Scottie silhouette

Went for a walk with the Princess Zoey this morning (as usual)…she gave me a somewhat classic Scottie silhouette pose (not like usual)

Snow on Tuesday

"Coming and Going" or "To and Fro". Whichever the case, it is always so much fun to be the first in the park after (or during) a snowfall.

Dead as a doornail, but still majestic in its stature....

Dead as a doornail, but still majestic in its stature is this Oak tree….

You see things differently when it snows (or fogs)...this looks like it could be an old farm road, or just a natural, coincidental clearing in the trees

I sure would have loved to sit around and watch the snow melt....

The Plum Tuckered Daily Cap(s) (267)

Plums from my backyard Mexican Plum tree…notice the ant “walking the plank” (the pine needle)

Landed on the top rail of the fence…no bounce here (I love my 50mm lens)

I love this time of year…when the plums are ripe and give off a sweet aroma scent

They obviously scattered about once the hit the ground….usually

But the paver joints have a way of lining them up in a cross-formation when they’re rolled, swept, or blown off the patio

The Lifecycle Daily Cap(s) (127)

My front yard Desert Willow shows a bountiful life being in bloom and a vitality in setting a seed head.

My back yard Mexican Plum, I fear, is showing signs of a good life coming to an end as I had to remove yet another dead limb today

The Daily Cap(s) (108)

These guys were all over a Keller park this afternoon - if it was bloomin' they were busy fluttering

Already sickly is this tree, and it's only spring...an early spring at that

They are a colorful lot with bookend wings...I think this is the Common Buckeye Butterfly

The Not-In-My-Backyard Daily Cap(s) (103)

These two soon realized that this pool had a "no lifeguard on duty" policy...so there they sat pitifully longing for a nice cool dip in the pool

I called this kid's backyard recreation somewhat "ingenious". The property manager I was with during our morning property walk called it "redneck"....

A favorite tree...the hickory has a great trunk and bark pattern

Springing About Town Again

Anyone want to venture a guess on what are these North Texas spring bloomers? Hint: they all are small trees/large shrubs…and taken nearly two weeks ago (so they’re done blooming now).

The Plentiful Daily Cap(s) (56)

Back in the woods off the beaten path I found this Mexican Plum in early bloom...with the morning sunrise aglow in the background.

Spring already? Tell me it's not so. I'm not done wearing warm cool jackets yet. Some gut feeling tells me these guys are gonna get caught without a blanket one more time this winter, and they will get hurt. I guess the macro len/filter stuff needs dug out the back of the closet, huh? (Callery Pear, BTW)
