I think it just means that doing something special for certain people is just a waste of time because no matter what you do they won’t appreciate it. A cow would just look at the roses as food, not as something special.

A guy in a hurry to get to the airport is not bothered whether you get him there in a Ford or a Rolls he just wants to get the airport?
