Leftovers from St. Patrick’s Day…but these are not a one day recitation. All year long they are with meaning:
“May the road rise up to meet you, may the wind be ever at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face and the rain fall softly on your fields. And until we meet again, May God hold you in the hollow of his hand.”
“May you live as long as you want and never want as long as you live”
“May flowers always line your path and sunshine light your day. May songbirds serenade you every step along the way. May a rainbow run beside you in a sky that’s always blue. And may happiness fill your heart each day your whole life through.”

“Harvey and I have things to do… we sit in the bars… have a drink or two… play the juke box. Very soon the faces of all the other people turn towards me and they smile. They say: ‘We don’t know your name, mister, but you’re a very nice fellow.’ Harvey and I warm ourselves in these golden moments. We came as strangers – soon we have friends. They come over. They sit with us. They drink with us. They talk to us. Continue reading “A little bit of envy in the best of us”

H.L. Mencken quotes – I’m thinking I kind of like the way this guy expressed himself! BTW, early voting started yesterday….

See…I told you I would: From the left side of the political aisle comes these dumb quotes…yes Virginia, the political idiots care not what they claim as their party affiliation or their political lean. Politicians are all the same and don’t try to convince me otherwise. From my newfound blog… the same one that gives us the dumb conservative quotes posted earlier today comes this about the liberals: The Stir, a cafemom blog I’m thinking I like this lady. She’s clever and seemingly fair (for the most part) with her blogging. I’ll take that over political extremist propoganda any day. Continue reading Dumb Quotes, Round 2
From the right side of the political aisle comes these dumb quotes…now lets not have any one getting too excited, I know the left side has just as many political idiots and their proof of interview/press conference intelligence will soon be posted as well… Check out this newfound blog…it seems as much “balanced” as it is interesting: The Stir, a cafemom blog, and that certainly is refreshing for a change! Continue reading Dumb Quotes, Round 1
Sometimes (not often enough) my cynical outlook on the way today’s politics is being played makes me reflect on a time-gone-by (yes Virginia, I am getting way to old). We taxpayers have to put up with the incessant bombardment of partisan positioning, extreme, over-the-edge left and right commentary, a sour economy lead by ghost or buffoon leadership, and an impotent political population in Washington D.C. – for how many years? All the while, very little seems to get done and what does…well that moves at a glacier’s pace (oh wait, maybe I should say “at a snail’s pace” since global warming seems to be melting the glaciers faster than our political processes moves)…can I ‘ughhhhhhhhhhhh’ through clenched teeth now?
Thanks goes to gal-pal Jayne for her email this week…it saved me a scolding about the ill effects of teeth grinding from my dentist. Oddly (but not surprisingly) these few Ronald Reagan-ism quotes, probably some 30-years old now, are still worthy and applicable to today’s government and politicians: Continue reading “Where’s a Ronny when you need one?”
