Learning something
After spending part of my day at a dog park we designed for a City park project; after watching a Yorkie run at top speed (dang they’re fast); after being entertained by an Australian Shepherd (that breed doesn’t know when to call it quits), I came across this and thought…”This I like!” (from this: http://www.joke-archives.com/allineed.html)

…I like snakes best!
Don’t get me wrong here folks. I am a nature-loving man of kind heart, respectful spirit, and all-God’s-creatures compassion…except when it comes to snakes.
Realize, I don’t even do slinky, slimy reptiles at the zoo. I figure we’re both better off without my screaming like a little school girl at them on the other side of the glass.
I don’t know how I got this phobia, but it’s been with me for quite sometime. Maybe it was that time on a Boy Scout weekend campout when I decided to climb this big ol’ Cottonwood tree next to our campsite and along side the creek. I got to that first branch – at least 100′ in the air don’t you know – when I came face-to-face with a King snake coiled up like Kaa the Python from a classic movie of my youth.
Needless to say, I was on the ground pretty darn quick – haven’t been the same since.

Kettling Growling
Something special was afforded me on our Canadian fishing trip this time. Not only did the four of us (dad and sons/brothers) get to spend time together, as a photographer I got to snap over 1500 photos in 5 days.
But perhaps the best part of it was when long-time guide Brian (Parker) at Halley’s Camps/Kettle Falls came up to me at the end of Fishing Day 3 with a proposition. It was one I could not refuse….

Berl & Company
One benefit of my employment is a perk that affords spirtual counseling if and whenever the need might arise. A couple pastors come to our office a few times per month and check in on each employee. Obviously, friendships, fellowships, and trust develop between all of us. Berl is one of the pastors that stops by each week. His visits are welcomed in our Fort Worth office. “Woody” summer shower
An early morning sprinkling of my front lawn gave way to an entertaining few minutes. Sitting down with a fresh cup of coffee and my electronic Sunday newspaper (it’s just not the same as a print copy), I spied a red-headed woodpecker on my Cedar Elm getting a cooling summer shower this morning through the dining room window. I scrambled for a camera – any camera for that matter…I even considered aiming my iPad at him for a minute (funny how you forget where you put them at 6:15 in the morning…well…for some of us that might be a concern). Naturally
With a Sunday to myself and the temperatures hovering around 100° at 12:30 p.m., guess what?
I went for a hike in the woods….
An afternoon was spent at the Fort Worth Nature Center. I attended a 2-hour talk and walk about North Texas Prairies given by a young lady with an education in prairie management. She works the weekends part time at the Nature Center doing outreach learning and eduction. Me and 7 others braved the heat and got smarter.
