(97) Hello It’s Me Playlist Fav

Although somewhat distracting from the great lyrics of “Hello It’s Me”,  Todd Rundgren could most definitely adorn the stage with his costuming…Nice eyebrows Todd! A favorite song from the high school days that would always find me singing along with Todd when played on the local AM radio station (and it goes without saying I didn’t have near the listening audience he had). Hello, it’s me I’ve thought about us for a long, long time Maybe I think too much but something’s wrong There’s something here that doesn’t last too long Maybe I shouldn’t think of you as mine Seeing you, or seeing anything as … Continue reading (97) Hello It’s Me Playlist Fav

(90) Come To Me Playlist Fav

According to Goo Goo Dolls lead singer Johnny Rzeznik, this song is about a long-ago love, that was separated by time, and then it returns. I caught you burnin’ photographs Like that could save you from your past History is like gravity It holds you down away from me You and me, we’ve both got sins And I don’t care about where you’ve been Don’t be sad and don’t explain This is where we start again Start again Come to me my sweetest friend Can you feel my heart again I’ll take you back where you belong And this will … Continue reading (90) Come To Me Playlist Fav

One of those songs that might speak differently to each of us…. When the days are cold And the cards all fold And the saints we see Are all made of gold When your dreams all fail And the ones we hail Are the worst of all And the blood’s run stale I wanna hide the truth I wanna shelter you But with the beast inside There’s nowhere we can hide No matter what we breed We still are made of greed This is my kingdom come This is my kingdom come When you feel my heat Look into my … Continue reading (83) Demons Playlist Fav

(76) A Case of You Playlist Fav

A Joni Mitchell cover done well – I sing along with James (Wolpert), The Voice Season 5, in my car…a lot. Oh I am a lonely painter I live in a box of paints I’m frightened by the devil And I’m drawn to those ones that ain’t afraid I remember that time that you told me, you said “Love is touching souls” Surely you touched mine ’cause Part of you pours out of me In these lines from time to time Oh you are in my blood like holy wine You taste so bitter And so sweet oh I could … Continue reading (76) A Case of You Playlist Fav

(69) Yours Playlist Fav

I am thinking it is the purity to her voice that makes this a favorite of mine – Ella Henderson, singing “Yours”. And I will find my strength to untape my mouth When I used to be afraid of the words But with you I’ve learned just to let it out Now my heart is ready to burst ‘Cause I, I feel like I’m ready for love And I wanna be your everything and more And I know every day you say it But I just want you to be sure That I’m yours Continue reading (69) Yours Playlist Fav

(61) We All Need Saving Playlist Fav (9)

A great song to sing accappella or with headphones on…sometimes. I found myself singing it often times. You have got to move on This is not the you I know This isn’t real It’s just all you can feel And that’s the way that feelings go And whether or not it’s right or wrong You’ll do what you will do But when the cloud in the sky starts to pour in your life Its just a storm you’re braving Well don’t tell yourself You can’t lean on someone Cause we all need saving Sometimes   Continue reading (61) We All Need Saving Playlist Fav (9)

Know that not all these versions are in my favorites playlist (I did get a bit carried away this week) – wanna guess which one? And in the naked light I saw Ten thousand people, maybe more People talking without speaking People hearing without listening People writing songs that voices never share No one dare Disturb the sound of silence Disturbed and Myles Kennedy: yup! Nouela – a whole lot of tears from a whole lot of folks…good cover Passenger – a creative cover rendition from a guy with a creative voice Dance to the sounds of a haunting men’s … Continue reading (46) Sounds of Silence Favs (7)

(39) Last Time Playlist Fav (6)

Keane’s Tom Chaplin (lead singer) has one of those voices…and I think I understand his lyrics (or at least have my own wishful(?)…hopeful(?)…optimistic(?) interpretation)…. THIS IS THE LAST TIME This is the last time That I will say these words I remember the first time The first of many lies Sweep it into the corner Or hide it under the bed Say these things they go away But they never do Something I wasn’t sure of But I was in the middle of Something I forget now But I’ve seen too little of The last time You fall on me … Continue reading (39) Last Time Playlist Fav (6)

Oh my this song…makes me breathe deep Run – Sugarland (Jennifer Nettles is a Favs favorite of mine) and Matt Nathanson You pull me in close And buckle my knees I shake and I shiver just to feel you breathe You trace my lines (You trace your lines) Stirring my soul Shoot sparks at the heart of the world and I watch it explode? (I watch you yeah I watch you) You turn, turn, turn, turning me on Like a slow fire burn I Know that it’s wrong Still I run, run, run, run right into you Yeah, I run, … Continue reading (31) Run Playlist Fav

(25) Loaf Playlist Fav (4)

Meatloaf and Marion Raven sing this love song classic, covered most notably by Celine Dion (songwriter Jim Steinman told Meatloaf to wait supposedly because he wanted a woman to sing it). Even after waiting to do the song, I’m thinking Meatloaf does it much better. Being another guy musician in my amateur voice range, I remember many a times, singing many a songs note-for-note with the Meat in the acoustical confines of, amongst many places, my Datsun 310GX for one: I finished crying in the instant that you left And I can’t remember where or when or how And I … Continue reading (25) Loaf Playlist Fav (4)

(18) Cocker Playlist Fav (3)

There are many Joe Cocker songs to choose from in my song list – “Leave Your Hat On”, “Unchain My Heart”, “When the Night Comes”, “You Are So Beautiful” – it is this one that has a place in my playlist of sentimental Favs: Saw you That was all I had to see Wanted you Had to have you next to me And from that moment I knew that you’d be all I’d ever need And there’s a place inside my heart Nobody’s touched before And when I found you, I found all that I’ve been searching for You turned … Continue reading (18) Cocker Playlist Fav (3)

You can’t hide standing under these stars They know everything, they know where you are You’re in your head, you’re all turned around with in And they’re shining down their lights to bring you back again Back where I can find you to crawl inside you I’m ringing all the warning bells, careful or you’ll hurt yourself Others lie, lie, lie, they adore you I’ll be the one to tell, careful or you’ll hurt yourself Gonna try, try, try ’til the morning comes Continue reading (11) Wednesday Favs Video (2)

Something new! I’ve shared favorite music videos before, but not with consistency. So having this iPhone playlist of sentimental favorite songs of memories, toe tapping, knee slapping rhythms, love lost and love found, happy tunes and no sad ones, and songs with lyrics foreign to me and a couple without any at all. I am goaled to do this every Wednesday in 2017 without a repeat video. Know that I’ve listened to this playlist for the past 7 months every Friday and Sunday night during my 4 hour commute from Houston to Dallas and back again. Hang on for an … Continue reading (4) Wednesday Favs Video (1)

The Tilted x 3 Daily Dance(s)

” I am actually good, can’t help it if we’re tilted”… Pardon me for posting three versions of the same song – each good by itself. I just didn’t know which one to share. Love this artist; love her knee swings at the 2:11 marker of song (English version – 1st one); love the live version (3rd one). Unless you know French, to comprehend the lyrics leave the 2nd one to listen to till last. I betting that if this song doesn’t make you get up and dance and sing a couple of catchy phrases, you will at least be tapping your … Continue reading The Tilted x 3 Daily Dance(s)

Songs that make you sing all day

There are many songs that will make me sing throughout the day, but this does it more so. Maybe it’s because I’ve always been a Neil Diamond fan (yes, I am prepared for the onslaught of ribbing that might bring), and Jennifer Nettles…well…she can just sing to me anytime. For those that know this classic Neil song, I think Jennifer may do it better than he. but then, maybe I’ve been crazy and maybe I’m to blame…. Continue reading Songs that make you sing all day

The Harmony Daily Cap (51)

Friday night was the start of the 2-day Men’s Conference at Denton Bible Church. And for the 900 men gathered to worship, 50-60 of us decided to give a go at singing a couple songs for the event. The 5 weeks of rehearsals leading up to the Conference was a great time of musical fellowship and we didn’t sound half bad…at least from my ear’s vantage point. As any obsessed photographer does, you always look for your next picture. If Kendall (our director standing at the pulpit) finds out that I snuck an iPhone picture from the risers he might … Continue reading The Harmony Daily Cap (51)

The Runaround Reaction

A Facebook friend shared this post  and it was just to good not to pass on. When all the “roundaround” of the week has given you a high step and shuffle kick in the rear, this video helps put a perspective on the fun of just living in the moment (and I caution that the video end is a bit direct…funny, but maybe not necessarily for anyone in a non-dancing “prude mood”).
