50 more dropped in the bucket

After thinking I was way behind on my travels yesterday, “they” come up with another 50 More of the Most Famous Landmarks on Earth (Part 2).  So you add the latter fifty to the first fifty from yesterday’s post, and it becomes glaringly obvious I simply don’t get out much.

In this second set of places, I’ve got 47 trips yet to happen. So combining both lists, 93 worldly landmarks still await my arrival (and photography attempts).

Now if we were to take a deep breath and consider landmarks more local (instead of global), my attendance is much better when the “have-you-been-there” conversation turns to the National Parks of the U.S. Continue reading “50 more dropped in the bucket”

Berl & Company

One benefit of my employment is a perk that affords spirtual counseling if and whenever the need might arise. A couple pastors come to our office a few times per month and check in on each employee. Obviously, friendships, fellowships, and trust develop between all of us. Berl is one of the pastors that stops by each week. His visits are welcomed in our Fort Worth office. Naturally

With a Sunday to myself and the temperatures hovering around 100° at 12:30 p.m., guess what?

I went for a hike in the woods….

An afternoon was spent at the Fort Worth Nature Center. I attended a 2-hour talk and walk about North Texas Prairies given by a young lady with an education in prairie management. She works the weekends part time at the Nature Center doing outreach learning and eduction. Me and 7 others braved the heat and got smarter.

Here we go again

Done deal!

Thanks to a simple email question from OFSIL Becky, it got the line cast and look what happened. Everyone got called and sure as a Canadian fishing license, father and sons are trekking back to Canada to try and catch more trophy Walleye this fall!

The four of us will be packing tackle and poles and head off to Halley’s Camps in Ontario!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Morning

Now this is something I’ve got a whole lot of pictures of….

Most of you limeyfishers know how I like my sunrises over the lake. So I went through the 1,000+ photos of sunrises and pick a few favorites. Then I debated on whether to post them in this “challenge”. So I searched a bit more . I may have stretched the challenge (maybe I don’t think so now) by taking “morning” and figuring what  pictures I had that showed something happening then.

Take a Hike

Hey y’all! Today is National Trails Day…can you believe it? Have you gone out and hiked or biked a trail yet?

Well I did. This morning I hip-wiggled into my flattering padded tush biking shorts, pumped up the tires and took off for a 6-mile ride on a City trail along the lake edge.

It will never cease to amaze me the things you can see and hear when you’re not motoring. I will always appreciate the natural stuff and truly let its grasp take hold of me. That is until I happen upon a snake (or vice versa).

If that were to happen (a snake and me encounter), well…I’m either going to pity the snake for the panicked wild man wrath about to be unleashed upon it…after the fact, or if someone is with me heaven forbid they get in my way during a hasty, Katy-bar-the-door, asses-n-elbows, Monty Python “run away” retreat. Did I ever mention when confronted by a snake, the kind of snake makes no difference, this blogger can run a whole lot faster than he can bicycle? “Drop the bicycle and RUUUUUNNNNNN!”

But there were no snakes seen today (and you thought you were gonna get a Tim-got-scared snake story didn’t ya? HA!).

Watch out for low-flying insects

An email funny was read this morning that had kindergarten kids describing “grandparents”. One kid said, “when they take us for walks, they slow down past things like pretty leaves and caterpillars”.

I guess it’s OK to act like a grandparent (I’m not one BTW) for the time being…OK since I stop at many of the plants and bugs along the way these days.

Oh what a week

It (the week) ends on a Friday the 13th, the only one in 2011, BTW. Maybe that’s why the commute tonight was “driving” me crazy. Folks were coming to a complete stop to make a turn, people were pulling out of parking lots across 2 lanes and unable to get in line straight…so both lanes are blocked, drivers were leaving 200 car lengths between them and the guy/gal in front (all that does is let people cut-in uninhibited). Everyone was being superstitious…yeah, that’s it, superstitious!

The attraction

Being in the professional practice of creating, preserving, managing, and enhancing outdoor spaces, and knowing that a good understanding of human psychology is as much necessary as having pure talent, it is common knowledge that 11 out of 10 people prefer the sight, sound, touch and taste of water in their everyday life.

With this statement, I mean something a bit more intimate in our romance, longing and preference for the sight/sound/sensation comfort of water…something other than the shower, brushing your teeth, or a toilet flush.

Rise and shine you cute ones

Looks like a practical joke...but it wasn't

This morning, for the first time in about 2 weeks (maybe more), we finally had a sunrise visible to those of us that enjoy sunrises and look forward to each day’s arrival….

The fisherman, both human and aviarian were out; the morning temperatures were cool, the air refreshing,

As my massage therapist told me yesterday – yes I got a fourth cupping during a 1-hour session, and yes again, Tony is working wonders on this big ol’ body of mine – saying “you go to the sunrise for a reason…you just may not realize what it is yet”. That’s another blog post for sure!
