For those of you in the DFW area, the Alliance Air Show is this weekend…free to the public but $20 to park. The Blue Angels in F/A 18 Hornets (Navy), Raptors-Vipers-others (an Air Force Heritage show) flying F-22’s, and the Golden Knights parachutists (Army) will be performing, among others.
I was lucky enough to watch the Blue Angels practice late yesterday (Thursday) afternoon from the parking lot of the Cabela’s (right across from Alliance Airport). Go if you can this weekend…
Sorry these are a bit out of focus – they sure do move fast and I got much too excited to be taking pictures:
8/18/2010: downtown business parking in Lake Dallas Texas
Have you ever wanted to do customer service like this before?
12/12/2010: Mid-Cities of DFW
I looked…couldn’t see what it was…unless it was the pile of fence boards and rusty rebar in front of this service station and convenience store…oh wait, maybe they’re referring to the antique farm implement…no, no, that’s been “here” much longer than the sign. Hmmmm
Just when I was getting all wrapped up in…”stuff”, I have to be reminded to get all unwrapped, for crying out loud.
Work, political argument, professional challenges, successes and failures, family attitudes, time demands, making ends meet, coordinating schedules of events, getting ready for a 3-day weekend trip, sadly realizing LD High School football has their last home game this Friday, figuring out how to evict the pity-party-goers trying to dominate the day, and a big one: having to deal with the absurdity and unfairness of life.
Oh geez….
So then… Continue reading “Wrapped up”
So…several of you have expressed your preferences and I’m pleased to say POW (Picture Of the Week) will continue it’s email distribution. But I will most likely post to the blog as well. Thanks for your input.
10/10/2010: My backyard – it’s that time of year for butterfly migration (or flutter-by if you prefer)
Thanks to attentiveness of Zoey the Princess Scottie, I may not have noticed the brown butterfly sunning on my tan bricks Continue reading “POW 10-13-2010”
POW (Picture of the Week)
Nothing more than a few silly randomnesses (sometimes my vocabulary ain’t no better than the writing on some car windows seen around town)….
9/30/2010: IH35W south of downtown Fort Worth
“and by gosh we’re gonna kill us some bugs dead…but only those that aren’t God’s creatures!”

Hey! This guy did get his big-ol’-lazy-butt-up-out-of-bed and made it to the 10th Annual Plano Balloon Festival over the weekend. Wake up limey fish!

While traveling to and from Austin last weekend, road personalities were discovered and photographed….

I had no idea there were “Tex” Cadillacs still out there….

Having recently returned from my 9-day adventure from Texas to Brooklyn New York, I’m proud to claim my photo library has increased by more than 1,000 pictures. It’s BYOB to my house for sharing each and every one of those with anyone interested (not to worry…you won’t see them all with the weekly photo send).
We saw beautiful country, enjoyed many eats, and laughed our way there and back. But it was yesterday’s last leg of the trip that garnered the biggest outburst of laughter. We were driving through Little Rock Arkansas when we happened upon a vehicle…. Needless to say, Deb had to take the last few pictures as she thought I was jiggling the camera too much with my laughter. I not sure if it was the bleacher-butt wear-n-tear of a 4,111-mile trip, the 12-hour drive last-leg home yesterday from Nashville, the fact we were in Bubba-land Arkansas, or perhaps it was a combination of all of those that made me nearly wet my britches and caused tearful driving for several miles.
So, be it known:

Schmooosing Picture for the Day
Just what every young lady hopes for as she waits for the “walk” light at a busy street intersection…a man at least twice her age with sexy see-thru-side-seam pants and tank top, riding a bicycle, wearing shades and straw hat while puffing on a cigarette and carrying a vacuum sweeper….wow! My big ol’ belly doesn’t seem near as imposing as it did yesterday.

I don’t like spiders and snakes, but lizards are OK….
Who amongst us can be the amateur Herpetologist and identify this creature? I’m thinking this is “Lizzy”, and Lizzy just might be a Green Anole (a green what?).
7/12/2010: Hitchhiker from Dallas – it rode on the back of Deb’s car to his new home
I signed up with Facebook some 18 months ago out of curiosity and because of the popular buzz surrounding it. I quickly learned one could enjoy the everyday happenings of family and friends, and pictures (always the posted pictures). Facebook has found many of my old friends and has reconnected me with family members that long ago traveled a different path than mine. It has been more fun than not catching up with those folks. With that promise, I had hoped it would truly be a “social network”, but alas the Facebook allure has lost its luster with me. Continue reading “Showing Face”
Lake Dallas, Texas Fireworks Show – a 4th of July celebration on July 3rd.
Holy Henbit, I had no idea today was Weed Appreciation Day!
Thanks to high school chum Ivan for enlightening me through his Facebook status. Odd fate thing has my knees “soiled” as I’ve been photographing Spring in Texas the past week or so, and today I was hunched over and 4″ from a dandelion (prior to knowing it was such a celebratory garden holiday). A rediscovered photo in my 2009-365 collection captures the Toulon grain elevator in Kansas over Thanksgiving weekend last year. A common sight in Kansas are grain elevators, this Toulon elevator is about two miles from Dad’s house. The layered colors in the stockpile were a definite bonus. An ever so faint half moon can be seen in the top left quad of the photo – the photos gods were gracious to me this day.
