Ya big blow hard
I know, I know. The photo is lame and has no merit to win a ribbon at the county fair. But still….
Thursday night, a front moved into north Texas and brought some rain (!!!). With it came the leading edge of a line of thunderstorms. In that leading edge we had +60 mph winds for a few minutes….
I like rain
It has been a while since it last rained in Texas,. Now when it comes…quick, grab the camera. With lake levels down 25%-35%, it certainly is a recordable event these days….
And as the preacher said the other day: “Lord, please bring us rain. Not for me – I’ve seen it before…but for my grandkids please”.
Thanks God! The 1.4″ last Friday helped a bunch!
Then again Sunday you gave us another drink from the heavens, be it ever so brief and small, it was, nonetheless, welcomed!

Let it snow

We certainly don’t get this very often. Nor do we Texans like to drive in it. Tomorrow’s commute ought to be very interesting.
It started about 10:30 this morning as I was coming out of church…it lasted until 3:00. When it was all said and done, a measly 1″, maybe 1.5″ at the house is all we got.
But it still is “cool” to get the snow. It makes for great comic relief sometimes…other times a sticky snow does wonders for photographing a Post Oak.
Waiting for that just-right picture
These guys are way good…I need to meet them sometime soon!

Some of us get a snow day…
…some of us don’t (it’s actually ice don’t cha know). But a late start to the day is OK. Ice hit the DFW Metroplex last night, and when that happens the local TV stations have non-stop sensationalism news stories that make the weather event more dramatic than it really is, are quite humorous at first, and then quickly become annoying as field reporters will search for any thing to report back to the station.
Hey but I digress, this morning’s weather afforded me the 365 Photo(s) (you are following those photos on my companion blog, right?) of the day:

Permission granted to all flashers
Winter weather in north Texas. When you have this: It must give permission to an annoying minority of drivers to run continuously the automobile’s hazard lights, travel 15 mph (tops), and straddle the lane dividers when ice accumulation has yet to make the road treacherous. Flashing hazard lights, when right in front of you, is in itself hazardous. You can’t get around the dumbo ’cause everyone is going slow wondering why the bonehead has his flashers on…I got a headache and I will dream tonight blinking lights. I think the “flashers” must make your car stay straight…. I know, these drivers are just being safe…and sorry. … Continue reading Permission granted to all flashers
Sky-scape

Kind of cool clouds graced the skies over north Texas yesterday late afternoon. I was able to capture some of the event but can tell you the photos do no justice to the eye witness account.
Regardless, I had the entire office outside looking up to the heavens (did I mention we office right next to a Hookah lounge and 2 doors down from a store-front church…maybe I shouldn’t to keep my credibility intact).
I sent several photos to the local ABC, NBC, and Fox afflilates. Only the ABC 10pm TV weather report “published” the photos last night during the broadcast that I know of. The Fox television chief meteorogist has been the only one to respond to my emailed photos and inquiry. Continue reading “Sky-scape”
