I signed up with Facebook some 18 months ago out of curiosity and because of the popular buzz surrounding it. I quickly learned one could enjoy the everyday happenings of family and friends, and pictures (always the posted pictures). Facebook has found many of my old friends and has reconnected me with family members that long ago traveled a different path than mine. It has been more fun than not catching up with those folks. Today is Free Iced Tea Day at your local McAlister’s Deli. It’s all part of their Tea Town USA promotion. The winning town gets $5000 worth of shade trees or other “improvements” for their park(s).  Go get yourself a big ol’ cup of tea – its only the best tea in the whole wide world – and drink it gone up underneath a shade tree at your local park…a shade tree that hopes for more family to come plant roots next to her real soon. Ms. Shirley’s algae farm

Facebooking for advice, my OFAIL (that’s One Favorite Aunt In Law, not literally “O-FAIL”…I maybe should think up another acronym huh?) has a recently built, do-it-yourself fish pond at her rural home. And now she has, yup, the dreaded algae.

Sight unseen, I think she has two issues here. One is her new fish pond has algae and the other is her new fish pond gets algae. Algae needs but 2 things to grow: sunlight and nutrients.

And to think at one point in my post-high school, early older-kidhood I was going to be a history major (probably why I’m sharing this…). Here are the Email Facts Received (EFR) from friend David:

Where did Piss Poor come from? They used to use urine to tan animal skins, so families used to all pee in a pot & then once a day it was taken & sold to the tannery…….if you had to do this to survive you were “Piss Poor”. But worse than that were the really poor folk who couldn’t even afford to buy a pot……they “didn’t have a pot to piss in” & were the lowest of the low

THE BIG 12 AS COUNTRIES

Texas is like the USA – Wealthy, talented, and with seemingly endless resources. They have a big ego, but are deserving of it because they win at almost everything they do. Others often despise them out of jealousy. Their money and wealth make the world go round, and everyone wants a piece.

Texas A&M is like China – Big, powerful, and rival of Texas (USA). They live in a male dominated society, and thus their women are not allowed to be cheerleaders. Their money and power also make the world go round.

Oklahoma is like Mexico – Having no resources of their own, they have to invade the border of Texas (USA) in order to survive.

Former UT RB Cedric “Barkeep, I’ll have another” Benson gets himself arrested for a lights-out punch to the face of an employee at an Austin bar. So then he goes and hires Big Bad Ben’s (Rothlisberger) attorney to represent him…hmmmm.
