Some loving that goes on and on

OK. So I will admit…I’m a sucker for a good love song. And Lionel Richie’s “Endless Love” sung with Diana Ross has always been a favorite. Like you – you can admit it, that’s fine – I know the lyrics by heart. Yup, I know the harmonies and both the guy and girl parts. I can sing the song (not very well mind you) acapella, or with Lionel and Diana if need be. Either way it looks to be, and sounds like someone is getting all glazey-eyed… I now know, with my youthful courtship attempts I was always (and still … Continue reading Some loving that goes on and on

My FD, the Internet Sensation

Go check out the FD! Tiff’s webseries acting debut is online as of this past Thursday. Episode 1 (11 more to go) introduces the cast of characters. For those of you that don’t know my “Favorite Daughter”, she’s the one in the gray sweater/gray shirt…that says “I’d rather chew glass” right at the start. And after watching, if you’re so emotionally moved and/or financially inclined, there’s their “kickstarter” page link right below the video…. Personally, I think Tiff did an outstanding job, but then what else would a “pops” say? She’s always had a natural Lucille Ball quality about her acting, as … Continue reading My FD, the Internet Sensation

It is well

Funny thing happened on the way to the church the other day.

It started with…oh wait, first a lead in: A typical Sunday morning routine of mine when driving to church is to plug my iPod (iPhone actually) to the truck stereo and get to singing with a playlist simply labeled “Sunday”. Of the hundred or so gospel/Christian music owned, the songs in this playlist are my favorites. This list numbers 24 songs as of today, and is populated with “standards of the faith” as much as it is with more contemporary songs that stir my spiritual soul.

The Daily Cap (15)

With so much going on at daybreak - geese flying, fishermen fishing, the sun a rising, a chilly nip to the morning air - am I the only one that likes to, as the day awakens and a sunrise warms your face, plug in the headphones and listen to the "String Quintet In e Major: Minuet"? Oh yeah, see there, I figured as much....

De-pants’d

I don’t know if the FD & FSIL are gonna do this event today, being the live up there in the “crazy city”.

Nor do I know whether the FS & (pregnant) FDIL will give it a go down this way in the “weird town”.

But whatever they do (or don’t) in the way of public participation in “Scivies Sunday, it does sounds kind of fun and entertaining.

This Event, wherever it’s organized, will/would definitely be a camera/picture/The Daily Cap kind of moment.

Where’s my camera? Could I take pictures of this Event without getting the “creep” label? (I guess that depends on who and what gets photographed…LOL) Continue reading “De-pants’d”

It’s OK

This YouTube humor finds its way here via the FD and her Facebook post. I discovered that when one laughs out loud this early in the morning, Scottie dogs come a scootin’ to see what in the wide, wide world of Saturday mornings is going on.

Oh yeah, the calming, and, for those of us that struggle mightily with body coordination, condescending voice of one very patient ballet teacher can be quite comforting during those times I call “oh geez”.

Heed her instruction:

To be jolly

Now if you just so happen to watch the video, and you don’t catch yourself smiling, then I’ll come see you to massage that hardened heart of yours. It is, after all, the season to be jolly. So be it! Stop it with the political moaning, employment groaning, life-is-not-fair bellyaching, and the unsociable Facebooking for but a few minutes…and sing a Christmas song, for crying out loud, that might make others smile for all the right Godly reasons.

One for the other half

castle4_HUGH'S PAINTING

From a family lineage and heritage perspective, the in-law side of the family has a pretty way-cool claim on history…a history of Scotland that is.

The Clan McRae is a proud and noble bunch. Their Scottish history speaks for itself. However, one of the most recognized icons of Clan McRae is not that of its Clan folklore and honor, but that of a small castle on a big stage standing in the middle of some really deep water.

Eilean Donan is the place. And today’s Clan McRae, worldwide, are the stewards of a wonderful Scottish destination. Continue reading “One for the other half”

All I Can See

This guy I like…this Brendan James. Not sure he’s got danceable music, but I could listen to him for a long, long time in a smokey bar somewhere.

Now understand I’m a huge Billy Joel fan. In fact I know most of his song lyrics by heart and can belt them out for you anytime, and almost in tune (let my people know when you want the private concert to hear my non-talent if interested). Brendan James reminds me of a young Billy Joel (probably the singing-piano playing bit). Most music tunies might argue his James Taylor influences are much more apparent….hmmm. Don’t you just love comparisons?

Here is “All I Can Say(See)” about Brendan James: I have more of his songs checkmarked on my iPod than I do Billy Joel’s. Wow! Seriously?

So that’s it. Brendan’s voice, style, and talent speak for themselves – no jacket required to listen to him…no other artist comparisons are needed as well. Hope you enjoy him. Continue reading “All I Can See”

When I grow up, I want one of these

Hmmm, lets see…how ’bout…

maybe a Bentley, or a Mazariti, or a Mercedes

No…perhaps a Jaguar, or a Maybach, or a Triumph, or a Lamborghini

I know!

A ’41 Ford Super Deluxe, or a ’59 Chevy Parkwood Station Wagon, or a 55′ Studebaker Speedster, or a ’38 Buick Roadmaster!

Hmmm is about right…. Continue reading “When I grow up, I want one of these”
