My 7-year old great nephew-in-law Drake spent Sunday afternoon shopping for school clothes with his Aunt Debi – I tagged along for a couple hours. Drake is a good kid and quite the hoot. He has a start on a pretty clear perspective of life For example, he:
- knows who the bullies are in his class and stays away from them (Tyler is jealous of the toys Drake has so he bullies him),
- knows what shirt matches what pants (he really likes stripes-he told us so countless times),
- knows money can buy a picnic table (he said with the money he still has from his birthday, he could buy one of the displayed $50 picnic tables if he wanted…as we cut across the Lowe’s parking lot),
- knows a toy that comes with a pair of shorts makes the shorts worth getting (he also got a rhino key chain with a new pair of shoes so those steps were pretty styling),
- knows JC Penneys is the best (they have cool shoes and clothes even if they’re too big),
- knows Uncle Tim has to wear a “X-X-L” – “here Uncle Tim, this would look good on you” – “that’s a pretty big shirt Uncle Tim”, and perhaps my most favorite Drake-ism…
As we were driving Drake home, we saw lightning in the distance with an approaching storm. I told Deb and Drake that it was supposed to rain today because everytime I water my yard, which I had done earlier that morning, it rains. Drakes response: “You must have lucky water”.
Come spend the afternoon with us any time kid.
Crazy Uncle Tim
That’s my boy:0)
