Chirping

Black-capped Chickadee

Something’s up.

We get a warm day for a change, the snow and ice pretty much melts away, reportedly some silly football game is about to be played soon in God’s Stadium (with the roof window closed I might add – you know who is gonna be mmmmaaaadddd!).

Cedar Waxwing
No, that’s not it entirely.

What’s got all the birds around here frisky, singing, and carrying on today?

Maybe the Groundhog told them about the coming of an early spring.

And when the birds chirp, the Royal Scots bark…alot. Oh d’em Scottie dogs of mine. They are just the incorrigible sort here in the last couple days.  Maybe it’s the weather – we all got cabin/nest fever and a little bit of sunshine does the nonsense make.

And d’em birds…dey best be warned: Mackie can catch varmits and hide them dead under couch pillows, and Zoey, well she can snatch critters out of mid-air or mid-sprint.

Should I get some bird seed and invite them to dinner to find out what’s got them all up in a hissy of late?

Eastern Bluebird
Northern Cardinal

American Crow
Hey wait...what?...that's no bird.

Note: these pictures were taken in the late afternoon on 2/4/2011 and throughout the day on 2/5/2011. I need some help with the ID of these posted, feathered creatures (I haven’t a clue on a couple of them and if I’m inviting them to dinner, I need to know their family backgrounds….)

  1. I think the birds are attempting to make up for lost time with the Ladies Court! Good luck on dinner! I hope they don’t decorate the table. :)
