After spending part of my day at a dog park we designed for a City park project; after watching a Yorkie run at top speed (dang they’re fast); after being entertained by an Australian Shepherd (that breed doesn’t know when to call it quits), I came across this and thought…”This I like!” (from this: http://www.joke-archives.com/allineed.html)
All I Need To Know About Life I Learned From My Dog…
And since I’ve officially blown my tonnage-loss program right out the kitchen window this holiday season, I’m eating from a selection of chocolates from the See’s Candy Christmas gift received yesterday from OFGaPal JaiJai instead…and when I get home, the William & Sonoma Peppermint Bark awaits my palette (thanks Deb!). Continue reading “My little cupcake”
Mailboxes! I seek them out…I take pictures of them…homeowners can sometimes get rather concerned with me stopping in front of their house and doing so….
Don’t ask me why, but I strangely have a picture collection of these receptacles of both good and bad news. And lately during my travels (through neighborhoods timmay? really? that’s “travel”)….I’ve come upon several worthy of adding to my photo collection: Continue reading “Just another one of those camera quirks”
Just when I figured I had heard most of the standards of the faith, and most of the popular Christian Gospel theses days sang and/or performed at church, Denton Bible throws one at me this morning an inspiration that I’ve been singing all day: I will say I prefer Kendall (leading the choir), our 3 soloists, and the 50-60 folks in the Denton Bible Choir singing their version. It gets the hair on our arms standing up and it makes even the worst singer a part of the choir for nearly 5 whole minutes! Continue reading We Will Remember
“All you need is love. But a little chocolate now and then doesn’t hurt.” – Charles M. Schulz Or maybe a DQ Mint Oreo Blizzard would do just as well…. Continue reading Or maybe….
This is personally relevant today, it was for yesterday, and it has been for the past several days. Lets hope tomorrow is different…for the better: “The worst loneliness is not to be comfortable with yourself.” – Mark Twain (1835 – 1910) Continue reading Yup….
Most regular readers to this blog know I am a bit bonkers about photographing sunrises and sunsets. So for a change in scenry, I happened across this early morning sunrise photo on Saturday while driving through Flower Mound. Nothing like an inspirational glimpse at God casting His morning light on the steeple of His house. And I doubt He minds much with the red hawk sitting on the cross of His house of worship either. Continue reading Morning light
Don’t get me wrong here folks. I am a nature-loving man of kind heart, respectful spirit, and all-God’s-creatures compassion…except when it comes to snakes.
Realize, I don’t even do slinky, slimy reptiles at the zoo. I figure we’re both better off without my screaming like a little school girl at them on the other side of the glass.
I don’t know how I got this phobia, but it’s been with me for quite sometime. Maybe it was that time on a Boy Scout weekend campout when I decided to climb this big ol’ Cottonwood tree next to our campsite and along side the creek. I got to that first branch – at least 100′ in the air don’t you know – when I came face-to-face with a King snake coiled up like Kaa the Python from a classic movie of my youth.
Needless to say, I was on the ground pretty darn quick – haven’t been the same since.
Big Tex and a mighty fine "Howdy Folks" awaits fair-goers as they arrive each and every year
Sunday…I took a trip to The Great State Fair of Texas!
What a glorious day it was – breezy, upper 80°, and when you’re one of the first to arrive, parking was easy, convenient, and close to the entrance gate!
Each year the State Fair is an intentional destination. I wouldn’t be completely honest if I said my primary reasoning going is for the Auto Show.
I go for the people watching!
I go for the live entertainment on stage (several venues around the fairgrounds)!
I go for free ice cream cone and the give-away bread sampling at the Dairy/Grain Building!
I go to marvel at the wonderful Art Deco buildings scattered about the fairgrounds!
But mostly, I go for the traditional food of the State Fair as well as each year’s must-have foods!
Oh my…where should I start? Hey ’bout right here with this: The moon tonight is half full and up early.
Then, Saturday morning started with another tonnage-lost milestone achieved. Somewhere I’ve lost 75 pounds in the past 5 months. Has anyone seen my chubs laying around anywhere?
I know, I know. The photo is lame and has no merit to win a ribbon at the county fair. But still….
Thursday night, a front moved into north Texas and brought some rain (!!!). With it came the leading edge of a line of thunderstorms. In that leading edge we had +60 mph winds for a few minutes….
“May your thoughts be as glad as the shamrocks. May your heart be as light as a song. May each day bring you bright, happy hours. That stay with you all the year long.”
“May the Irish hills caress you. May her lakes and rivers bless you. May the luck of the Irish enfold you. May the blessings of Saint Patrick behold you.”
As you may have noticed from an earlier-in-the-day post, I stopped at the In N Out Burger in Allen Texas for lunch today. It truly is a treat to indulge in this, a favorite fast food burger place of mine (I’ve been munching on those since the mid-80’s whenever I traveled to California and the opportunity presented itself).
I had the Double-Double (aka as the #1) today. Delicious, right?
Dang right! If I’m eating fast, I love my In N Out Burger burgers!
I sit tonight at a Denton coffee shop – Art Six – to spend a bit of time alone and to collect my thoughts. After all, good/bad news is sometimes challenging to digest, comprehend, contain, and/or temper. So this place is an off-campus place with way cool art on the wall, a local hangout for artists and the like, musicians will set up and sing on some nights, and oh yeah, they serve up a great cup of coffee (and Irish tea). Creativity oozes from this old house….
