This ECR (Email Craziness Received) comes from my friend Shawn.
Contrary to what some may say about me, I can be a bit of a rebel and risk-taker (on occasion I’ve been known to wear different colored socks and undershorts other than white…but not on the same day). But the stunt on the link below, well…this guy is plain ol’ nuts! Watching this is great hold-your-breathe-expand-your-lung-capacity exercise.
Is it all about the melody and whether the harmony makes your head cock and eyes squint? Maybe there’s more to it….
Lady Antebellum (“Need You Now“) versus Alan Parsons (“Eye In The Sky“): when the melody of two songs is this close to being the same, it could be a lawsuit of Grammy-ical proportions just waiting to happen. Give it a listen and decide for yourself:
In the spirit of Mardi Gras and Fat Tuesday, the City of Lake Dallas held their annual parade and party tonight and did it in small town Texas style. I was a part of the first half of the party – who knows how the second half went.
Everybody loves a parade…especially when you know many of the revelers walking down the street. But no beads were thrown my way – I wonder just what is up with that? Continue reading “Parading Mardi Gras down Main Street”
The North Texas Irish Festival was in Dallas this weekend. I made my way to Fair Park this afternoon and had a fun, grand time (partly because I didn’t partake in the Festival food as it reminded me to much of the State Fair).
An early morning tree shadow casts itself against one of the boat repair shops at Lakeview Marina, Lewisville Lake… Continue reading “Weekly Photo Challenge: Shadow”
Actually it was Lewisville Lake. These guys were quite entertaining – I gave up on them before they tired of me.
I do love that M&M commercial….
I do not love the SI article, College Football and Crime, in that it whistles the top college football programs and flags the criminals they recruit and/or keep on the team…all for the sake of TV dollars and fleeting glory. As most of you know, I have repeatedly claimed I didn’t like or watch Pro Football because the college game was mostly guys playing for the love of the sport and in the spirit of campus camaraderie (that good ol’ college try, why don’t ya?).
Texas turned 174 years old today….
To my Texas blog readers: who amongst you can answer this Texas trivia?
Ah heck y’all, why limit it only to the Texas folks? Can anybody answer these questions? I don’t even know if I remember some of the answers!
Does anyone really want to…answer 49 questions? I thought about listing 174 questions, but I do have another life (I think) besides this blog.

I think I have pictures of all of them…at least those of you “in the family” that celebrated birthdays in February.
As far as the friends go, well…if I miss wishing you a happy birthday, I hope you had a happy birthday.
Not to worry you eight (8) January partyers. I’m playing catch up with your pics and post…
A special picture shared. FD does not get to see her Grandpa often enough, but when she does she tries to make up for the long time in between hugs. Continue reading Weekly Photo Challenge: Abundance
Hey y’all, I went to my plumbing doctor the other day. No one really likes those appointments, but you go anyway. You get there and then, well, you know the routine…well maybe you don’t, sorry. Allow me to explain.
Upon arrival, I check in and then asked to take a seat in the waiting room. After about for 15 minutes (and after enough time has gone by to get halfway through a really interesting magazine article), I’m called to go “beyond that door”. I am promptly greeted by Nurse Grumpy that hands me a sample cup and points to the last door on the right (I’d be grumpy too if that was my job day in and day out). There, the natural body function performance of peeing is done, admirably I might add, for the sake of medical science. Open the door and get shuffled to the exam room.
Sometimes, I swear (not really)…all I can do is shake my head and clear the frog in my throat. From National Geographic Daily News comes this: Photos: Bubble-nest Frog, Other “Extinct” Species Found.
“They”…found…extinct…frogs? Alive? Then wouldn’t that make them un-extinct? Wait, were they not no nevermind ever extinct, right?
Another end of an era. Isn’t it interesting that people of just about any degree of importance, influence, and interest captures…no, recaptures the imagination of those of us aging. To say the least, it becomes even more habitual – noting celebrity deaths – the older one gets.
Sadly, Joanne Siegel died last week in California at the colorful age of 93. She was married to Jerry Siegel. She truly was an inspiration to perhaps millions of people. Continue reading “She could stop a bird and a plane”
Since I signed up for this “postaday2011” thing through WordPress, they have helped spur ideas to keep the posting alive. Mostly, I’ve dismissed those ideas as I’ve had something to share, worthy or not, most of the time.
Not that I needed today’s “idea”, but it did bring back a teenager memory of mine. Here’s the question asked: How long do you think you can go without a shower?
