Ahhh, Christmas this year was spent a bit differently. Ohhhh we had our kids with us for sure, but it was out of the “home” for the second year in a row. Last year we traveled to San Antonio – that was cool. This year we were again close to San Antonio…about 45 minutes northwest in Wimberley.
Even though it went from 36° to nearly 80°…and then back to 40°, we had a
wonderful time in the Hill Country over Christmas. We had days where we woke up to the furnace running and ate dinner with the AC blowing. Something about not having cold temps and snow on the ground at Christmas just isn’t right.
FD and Mark, FS and Tammy, and Frank and Lupe joined us for a relaxing, special time together. The time went by so fast and very little college football bowls were watched – which made it even more neat for everyone.

We had/did:
- Wading in Cypress Creek – a new adventure for a few
- Feeding encounter with ducks and geese
- Tasting wine at a few Texas wineries
- Discovering the contents of Christmas morning stockings
- Consumption of adult beverages
- Family bonding with Mexican Train Dominoes and Yahtzee
- Couples taking turns in the kitchen preparing meals for the rest of us
- Having Mackie, Queen of Scots join us for the week
- Frequent sightings of deer
- Eating German sausage sandwiches in Fredericksburg
- Hooking up with former neighbors and FD’s high school friend, now retired in Comfort Texas and owning a Beetles nostalgia bar that opens only 2 nights a week in old downtown
We had grand time and thankful all traveling, not only done by this small bunch of family but those of us sharing relation everywhere, was done in a safe manner and all was good this holiday season.
We have a full year to figure out where next Christmas will have us. Maybe we will check out the Gulf Coast if unseasonable snow is in the forecast :)
Late Merry Christmas to all.
