Professional oneupmanship

Here are a few “catch phrases of the day” from the day of conventioning with my peers. Why do we do this? Whenever we all get together in one place for more than a day, this always happens. We sometimes like to impress upon each other just how much we like to let people know…that we think we know what we’re talking about. Make your own definitions or ask me to explain further (if I remember…but then I can BS my way through my own definition letting you know how much I think you think I know…huh?):

  • Prescriptive design
  • Simplistic dualistic mentality
  • Septillion (that’s a number followed by 24 zeros)
  • Out of date land planning techniques
  • Zoning housing away from retail
  • Soakage trench criteria
  • Hydrologic Flows
  • Zen of Design
  • Biota
  • Microclimatic energy conservation
  • LEAF (Leadership in Ecological Application and Function)
  • Design for multiple life forms
  • 30 million yards in America
  • Synergentic intelligence
  • Landscape as a narrative
  • BIM (Building Information Model)
  • Blue/Green Orb called Earth
  • Mental agility
  • Mental restoration
  • Social cohesion
  • Sequestration

Suggestions on where y’all might want me to start defining these?

But I did take more than 350 pictures today…here are 4 photos of us all conventioning together.
