Happy Belated New Year y’all!
So much – sometimes too much – going on, but then so much went on last year…that was documented.
One thing for 2009 for sure: I’m done! That is last year’s New Year’s resolution to take one picture a day is done. What fun I had and thoroughly enjoyed the challenge. It brought me more familiar with photography, a decent and knowledgeable understanding of digital cameras (I now have 6 within arm’s reach at any time day or night), a better eye for detail, color, repeating forms, and a favorite…people.
Worth mentioning, my 2009 picture-taking spawned many silly tangent portfolios (signs and mailboxes to list a few) besides the 365, and it caused a necessary, trial-by-error tag understanding of Picasa in trying to organize an absurd number of the year’s photos. But enjoyable most of all was that I took a ton of pictures. Many of those pictures were of family and friends (even better!), and I gained a quick reputation that I was “with camera” all the time. Of the 15,000+ photos taken throughout 2009 (at least 1 per day mind you), I picked 365 of them. Check out my Flickr if interested: 365-2009.

Thanksgiving in Kansas, Christmas in New York City, New Years Eve spent with friends, in Houston with in-law family – all those made for one delinquent blogger. But not to worry, I took picture along the entire way! And 2010’s resolution you might ask…I told the family I was going to lose some “tonnage” and in so doing, take a picture of myself each day. Needless to say with this proclamation, there worth a number of moans and groans. I have yet to figure out if they were in anticipation of my daily picture obsessions or the perceived fact no one really wanted to see 365 conceited “me-mug” shots this year.
If anyone wants a DVD of my entire 2009 collection of photos, please send me $9.99 before midnight tonight, plus S&H…or I could just do a COD for you at your local neighborhood Walgreens.
“take a picture, it lasts longer” everyone. In fact, it could last forever.
