It was far from a typical weekend

Can the weekend’s luck be measured? I think not.

Sailboat races at Lake Lewisville Saturday morning

It started Friday with OFNi Whitty and beau Stephen coming to see us for dinner. They were only in town for a few hours. We laughed, ate fajitas, and towards the end of our meal started talking about body jiggleness in a bathing suit clothing line idea…I paid the bill and not (paid) attention, thankfully.

Saturday, after watching the goings on at the Lake in the morning with the sailboat racing (or was it just an “exercise? Either way, the new zoom lens came in handy), look who came to see her Mom!

The FD!!!!

It’s always wonderful to see the FD and FS. With them being adult kiddos having spouses these days, the “Pops” relationship is different…in yet so many good ways. As deeply as I care for the people now in their everyday lives, it does not keep me from remembering the fun, happy “old days” every so often when their lives were shared only by us as a family. So when a memory becomes a reality…woohoo! Grab it!

Tiff was able to get away for a few days and found a very cheap air fare for the trip. Mark stayed back in NYC; Tyler & Tammy were unable to travel from Austin. That meant the “baby girl” had a great deal of undivided attention and quality time with the parents.

Much like the relationships being built between adult nephews and nieces, our get-togethers today always bring new experiences. Spouses, pregnancies, boyfriends, vacations with grandpas, working stiffs, mother/father-in-laws – all that and more no longer makes teasing seem appropriate. Whether I like it or not, the redefining of “dad” is in the works, as is happening with my being “Crazy Uncle Tim” – that would be at their choosing, not mine (I’m OK with that, I think).

This close, bees are liable to talk to you...sometimes not so nicely.

Back to the FD!

Sunday morning, St. Martins French Bistro in Dallas for a delightful, always-outstanding Mother’s Day brunch, then off to the Dallas Arboretum to smell the flowers. I’m still trying to figure out what was wrong with any of that.

Oh yeah, Mother’s Day morning…look what else I found:

  1. So glad you and Deb were able to enjoy time with Tiff. Isn’t it awesome to spend quality time with our adult children? Parenting youngsters is a tough job but the benefits we now reap are SO worth every minute of those early years – and of course, we didn’t know any different back then any way! :o)
