The iconic 79-year old Fort Worth Post Office is located on the south edge of downtown. The flag is a half-staff because of the Newtown school shooting tragedy. The way-cool lobby runs the entire length (or width) of the building. The west foyer is wonderfully detailed in its architecture – from the floor, to the walls and columns, to the….…ceilingThe furnishings – this a work table for postal customers – are pretty cool as well….As is the mail drop….….and the P.O. boxes.Dear Mr. Postmaster, why don’t they build buildings like this anymore?
It is a great place Bill. It was my first time in the building and it was well worth the 25¢ parking meter paid (gives you 16 minutes) to step in, do my postal business, and then quickly look around with a mouth gaped and a renewed appreciation for historic buildings still in service. :)
I live in Dallas and don’t get to Fort Worth often enough. Have never been to the Post Office- what a great place!
Thanks for sharing.
