Pie in/on the face holiday(s)

Yes, I have pie on my face…for a couple reasons.

One, I failed to mention this past Sunday was National Pie Day. I like pie! Every January 23rd, the American Pie Council celebrates the heritage and tradition of pies. Any of you know…all the amateur pie bakers out there can join the APC for a mere $30-$40 membership fee (not sure what all you get for that…maybe a pie tin or something?) My Grandma B used to make a simple but wonderful lemon meringue pie (I’m still convinced it was all in the height of the meringue she was able to build). But ya know…Deb can make a mean pie too! Saturday night her from-scratch, melt-your-own-chocolate-in-some-kind-of-cream-concoction and whip-you-own-cream-topping pie was o-u-t-s-t-a-n-d-i-n-g!

And two (second reason), we celebrated NPD at work…sort of. Co-worker Paula was the only one eating pie however. She lost her bet (she truly, actually, seriously thought the Cowboys would make the Super Bowl) with Mike. So she had to sit and take her serving….

Mark your calendars for next year for National Pie Day. I bet Paula doesn’t.

BTW, since I didn’t give you the heads up on the Pie Day thing beforehand, be it known this month is National Mail Order Gardening Month, as well as being National Polka Music Month.

And hey you honyocks, this week is No Name Calling Week – next week, for all you amorous souls, it’s Intimate Apparel Week.

Oh yeah, and finally to round out the holidays for the month…

  • today WAS National Peanut Brittle Day (1/26/11) (I ate Williams & Sonoma’s Peppermint Park instead),
  • tomorrow is Thomas Crapper Day (1/27/11)  (yes, he is the toilet guy),
  • Curmudgeons Day is Friday (1/28/11) (leave me alone – I want no part of you or that day, dang it),
  • Saturday you can go for a walk and take a good look around…it’s Seeing Eye Dog Day (1/29/11) (is that mean?),
  • Inane Answering Message Day comes Sunday (1/30/11) (voice mail greeting works here too – stupid YouTubes might as well), and lastly
  • Monday you can pop a few bubbles on Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day (1/31/11) (now isn’t that a coincidence as it’s also the first day on Intimate Apparel Week…hmmm).

Now you know. I like pie!
