Of all the days today could be…

…it ends up being Squirrel Appreciation Day. Gee Whiz I missed it. Yup, I had my slingshot at the ready and could have taken aim.

The National Wildlife Federation came up with the nuisance idea. What were they thinking? Huffington Post gave it some press – the photos at the bottom of the webpage link are worth checking out regardless of your tolerance level for the ornery mammals.

Sugar Sweet and Nestled

Did I mention the Jennifer Nettles and Jack Ingram concert I attend last Saturday? I’ll say it again – what a fun night that was! It was the best concert I’ve ever attend. 9 rows from the stage on the “Orchestra Right”, with an aisle seat. Yes! I sure we could see down Jennifer’s sore throat during her songs, we were so close (although a lingering cough and illness  didn’t stop her from belting and booming out vocals all through the night).

The Colonoscopy followup

Perhaps my favorite from my growing goofy sign collection of pictures….

Many of you have read and commented on the EHR: Colonoscopy Journal posting – this photo (in Fort Worth) seems only fitting.

Many of you have already seen this photo, but it is worthy of another look (note the business sign on the left, then read the sign on the right)…then grab your ankles….ugggghhhhh Continue reading “The Colonoscopy followup”

Sign Sign, Everywhere a Sign

It seems like every day of the week I get another of my way-too-many e-newsletters related to my profession, sometimes only ever so remotely related to the things I do (or better said: “want to”…maybe “should do”). So many I get that sometimes a quick click of the “X” in the toolbar without even a quick look-see is done just to keep the ol’ inbox manageable in size.  And here’s the bad thing…unless I skim through them for any thing of interest, I usually feel bad deleting them unread as if some person had really taken the time to compose, then send the email to me personally.

Let it snow

Post Oak

We certainly don’t get this very often. Nor do we Texans like to drive in it. Tomorrow’s commute ought to be very interesting.

It started about 10:30 this morning as I was coming out of church…it lasted until 3:00. When it was all said and done, a measly 1″, maybe 1.5″ at the house is all we got.

But it still is “cool” to get the snow. It makes for great comic relief sometimes…other times a sticky snow does wonders for photographing a Post Oak.

My Best Shot(s) of 2010

I took a whole bunch of pictures…I’m talking a big ol’ bunch of pictures last year (and the year before had around 15,000 snapped for that matter).

Somewhere  in the neighborhood of 19,000 pictures are stored on my computer (and backed up on two different portable hard drives) that have a 2010 date. So what the heck, I took took a stab at a Top 50 list. Let me know what you think.

A Lunch Party

We did a celebratory lunch party for my good friend and co-worker Jeff’s passing of the P.E. exam today.

A bunch of us knuckleheads in Denton came together with Jeff’s family to enjoy food and fellowship…and cake.

I think most of Jeff’s family ended up shaking their heads at all of us. His four young kids (#5 on the way) are as cute as a bug’s ear and had I remembered to ask his permission to post their photos, I would have shared those with y’all – maybe soon, maybe soon. But it was a good time had!

Congratulations again Jeff. Go seal some engineering plans why don’t ya! Continue reading “A Lunch Party”

Singing for More Music

Did I mention I bought concert tickets yesterday? A next-Saturday special performance at the University of North Texas Murchison Performing Arts Center, in the Winspear Performance Hall will benefit the Attic Community Playground. That’s the swanky place for all the fine music performed at UNT and by their world renowned music college…wonder what I should wear? I’ve never been to that/those performance places and it’s maybe 13 years old and only 10 minutes up the road. WUWT? Continue reading “Singing for More Music”

New Year, New Look, New Directions

Happy 2010 to most everyone (just kidding…). It comes at a time on renewed enthusiasm and knowing the need to “finish” is most important…as was the teaching/sermon today Denton Bible Church (that will be a “Thump” post coming soon). So I wish you celebration, good times, and prosperity beyond the pocketbook. New Year. Continue reading “New Year, New Look, New Directions”
