Should I be concerned?

Lately, I’ve been fortunate to visit both the right and left coasts – all within the last two weeks. And each time…well, the trip has been…let’s just say “eventful” and that’s not because of the purpose of each excursion.

A couple weeks ago I blogged about my travels to Alexandria,VA. That trip started out with a plane navigation problem that resulted in a cooling fan replacement, then an entire computer sensor thingy switcharoo. All was well…after a 90 minute departure delay.

So today I find myself in San Diego.

Movie eats

I did a solo date last night…well sort of; it was me and Harry Potter. The movie was actually pretty good, if you’ve been at least following the stories either by book and/or on the big screen. Based on the attendance, I may have been in a definite minority of those having not seen the last HP movie. Regardless, I won’t snap the wand, but I will say this: teenagers are annoying and quite bothersome at movie theaters, especially when the genders are mixed…how and why they move around the theatre so much is beyond me…and they think that’s “cool”. Oh yeah, they use the flashlight app on their phone to do so. Arrrggghhhh.

But better yet, no movie theatre food was consumed!

OK, here’s my sign

As you may have noticed from an earlier-in-the-day post, I stopped at the In N Out Burger in Allen Texas for lunch today. It truly is a treat to indulge in this, a favorite fast food burger place of mine (I’ve been munching on those since the mid-80’s whenever I traveled to California and the opportunity presented itself).

I had the Double-Double (aka as the #1) today. Delicious, right?

Dang right! If I’m eating fast, I love my In N Out Burger burgers!

Berl & Company

One benefit of my employment is a perk that affords spirtual counseling if and whenever the need might arise. A couple pastors come to our office a few times per month and check in on each employee. Obviously, friendships, fellowships, and trust develop between all of us. Berl is one of the pastors that stops by each week. His visits are welcomed in our Fort Worth office. Thursday, Berl and his lovely wife Verna had a few of us over for lunch and to seek free advice on his emaculate back yard landscape. “We”, being the landscape architects and horticulture … Continue reading Berl & Company

Super Saturday

This has been a Saturday unlike others in recent memory.

We had the Hickory Creek Veterans Memorial dedication this morning. That, my limeyfishers, was an impressive service!

It got up to 105° this afternoon. Thankfully I had several hundred photos to go through and upload to Flickr.

Enjoyed an evening of praise music courtesy of the Glengormley Methodist Youth Choir (from Belfast, Northern Ireland). What fun, what inspiration!

And finally for the second night in a row, the Queen and I chased off a family of 4 racoons from our front yard (don’t you know, the Queen is very intolerant of any of her subjects being an nuisance and annoyance).  Continue reading “Super Saturday”

Naturally

With a Sunday to myself and the temperatures hovering around 100° at 12:30 p.m., guess what?

I went for a hike in the woods….

An afternoon was spent at the Fort Worth Nature Center. I attended a 2-hour talk and walk about North Texas Prairies given by a young lady with an education in prairie management. She works the weekends part time at the Nature Center doing outreach learning and eduction. Me and 7 others braved the heat and got smarter.

It’s Finally Friday

This morning's "celebrate the senses day"....

Woo Hoo! It is Friday!

And a special Friday it is.

Because….don’t you know…it’s…

“Celebration of the Senses Day” where everyone should stop somewhere along today’s journey and watch (see), taste, feel, smell, and listen to somthing…somewhere.

No?

Don’t want to do that?

Then there are these “holidays” to account for today: Continue reading “It’s Finally Friday”

Old friends seen and old friends married

Got to see a few of my old friends tonight. I love nights like these.

K-Berr (Kati) and Will got married in an outdoor ceremony…on the hottest day of the summer (so far). It was 107° on the drive to Burleson, but the Lone Oak Winery had a cooling breeze across its meadows and under their large shade tree. We left the reception at 10:30pm – it was stil 97°. Gotta love Texas in the summertime for sure.

It was a wonderful evening for the newlyweds and their guests.

When I grow up, I want one of these

Hmmm, lets see…how ’bout…

maybe a Bentley, or a Mazariti, or a Mercedes

No…perhaps a Jaguar, or a Maybach, or a Triumph, or a Lamborghini

I know!

A ’41 Ford Super Deluxe, or a ’59 Chevy Parkwood Station Wagon, or a 55′ Studebaker Speedster, or a ’38 Buick Roadmaster!

Hmmm is about right…. Continue reading “When I grow up, I want one of these”

Weekly Photo Challenge: Morning

Now this is something I’ve got a whole lot of pictures of….

Most of you limeyfishers know how I like my sunrises over the lake. So I went through the 1,000+ photos of sunrises and pick a few favorites. Then I debated on whether to post them in this “challenge”. So I searched a bit more . I may have stretched the challenge (maybe I don’t think so now) by taking “morning” and figuring what  pictures I had that showed something happening then.

What cha think?

Take a Hike

The paved half of the trail at Willow Grove Park (Lake Dallas Texas)

Hey y’all! Today is National Trails Day…can you believe it? Have you gone out and hiked or biked a trail yet?

Well I did. This morning I hip-wiggled into my flattering padded tush biking shorts, pumped up the tires and took off for a 6-mile ride on a City trail along the lake edge.

It will never cease to amaze me the things you can see and hear when you’re not motoring. I will always appreciate the natural stuff and truly let its grasp take hold of me. That is until I happen upon a snake (or vice versa).

If that were to happen (a snake and me encounter), well…I’m either going to pity the snake for the panicked wild man wrath about to be unleashed upon it…after the fact, or if someone is with me heaven forbid they get in my way during a hasty, Katy-bar-the-door, asses-n-elbows, Monty Python “run away” retreat. Did I ever mention when confronted by a snake, the kind of snake makes no difference, this blogger can run a whole lot faster than he can bicycle? “Drop the bicycle and RUUUUUNNNNNN!”

But there were no snakes seen today (and you thought you were gonna get a Tim-got-scared snake story didn’t ya? HA!).

Pictures for the Week

4/9/2011: at a stop light somewhere (maybe it was Grapevine)

I must admit it does bother me some that a preachy window sticker like this one is prominently displayed in the back window of this guy’s car. Maybe it was a disgruntled mood moment for me: we were both at a standstill in our cars during rush hour traffic that was going nowhere when I saw this….
