Same old, same old

Apologies are extended for my ever so brief outburst of political common sense posting Thursday.

At the suggestion of two of my most vocally faithful limeyfishers, I am back to hugging the trees and taking in life as it presents itself. Bec and Em, what was I thinking? The same old, same old post content is so much more fun, more fun…..

No storm chasing here...I was being chased by the storm!

EHR: Animals…they’re really people

Now these are funny. Email Humor Received (EHR) by way of YouTube

From my buddy Joe M: I swear Mackie the Queen of Scots could have this same conversation with me…and agonizing over Zoey the Princess of Scots being in the house…hahahahahaha, oh my belly!

Germanfest

Off I went Sunday afternoon to the Texas community of German hertitage, Muenster Texas to partake in the food and festivities of their annual “Germanfest”.

Muenster is about 75 minutes from the house and I enjoyed the three thunderstorms I managed to drive through safely to get there.

And once there, about three more downpours provided more excitement as they thundered through Muenster. The festival was ready for the weather however – numerous big tents provided shelter from the rain and 30mph north winds for all those in attendance that wanted the protection. The music kept playing and the homemade brats and kraut kept cooking despite the weather’s inclemency. Grand time! Continue reading “Germanfest”

Well I would…one day.

Got this question from a Disneyland commercial this evening: “What would you do if you had one more day?”.

So like I usually do, I twist the question a bit, take it out of context (maybe not so much), think about all that is carried in my bucket, and re-ask the question without any thought of Disneyland. This question is intended to stir the deep, soul-reaching responses you have with good friends or close family (more times than not when an adult beverage has influenced your boldness and confidence, among other things). So what would you say (do) if the question was posed to you? Gut-check!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Lines

Too many pictures to choose from for this week’s Photo Challenge. So guess what? I’ll just put a bunch up here. Sorry gang, the dreaded “family slide show” shall commence now. BTW, I made the pictures smaller to make it seem like you’re scrolling through them faster. Grab your popcorn and beer…please silence your cell phones during the show :)

I’m kind of partial to lines, whether they’re formal or natural (it’s what I’ve done with myself for the past 29 years)….

Lining up the putt (Relay For Life Golf Tourney, Hays Kansas - just so happens to be both my OFBs)

Cover to cover

storm clouds were beginning to build on the horizon at sunset tonight - figured we were in for some weather

Egads y’all. The hail and thunderstorms passing through town knocked out my internet this evening…I was thinking my posting run was about to stop. Nawwww, I always have the iPhone (more reliable than my home internet most of the time). You guys at least get the abridged version of a post today.

With this “postaday2011” thing going on, wordpress.com sends 1, sometimes 2 emails each day with topic ideas. I usually read them, scoff, then trash the email. Today’s was interesting though and it has had me thinking about it all day. Here is the question:  Continue reading “Cover to cover”

April Madness

At the main office of my employment, youth is slow to move along this time of year. College basketball inspires a select group of players with a stirring of competitive juices. And then they get after each other for nothing more than braggin’ rights for 11 months, or for some smack talk at each pickup game throughout the year. They are a fun lot to be around and watch.

They also make me very tired just observing….  Continue reading “April Madness”

A week (weak) of interest

Despite the fact of having a blog, trying to write a post-a-day all year long, and linking it to Facebook and Twitter, I really don’t mean to go on and on about the life and times of…well…Mackie and Zoey.

I’m probably the first in line to get somewhat disinterested at those posts that each day describe the length of toenails, the loudness of steps others take when you’re sick or still hung over from the night before, or the amount of Friday donuts consumed by a least favorite person at work…for example. So this week I do it again.

No one will convince me otherwise: you create your own interest in life and you alone choose to share it with humor, pity, blandness, annoyance, or not at all. Some might say I’m doing a self-description (did I mention conceit, self-infatuation, and boastfulness?), but whatever it is, here goes my week log – whether it is interesting or not, is up to you:  Continue reading “A week (weak) of interest”

Weekender Hats, Weather and a Wee Bit

We enjoyed a wonderful weekend in North Texas.

80° on Saturday…I actually (yup I admit it) turned on the air conditioner for a brief late afternoon cool-down). We then had an Irish dinner Saturday night that was simply my fortune (luck) to be invited. Daylight Savings Time kicked in this morning, but it did not make me late for church nor throw Mackie the Queen of Scots off of her usual get-out-of-bed-you-limey-fish roust to get her breakfast. Yard work today in 78° weather…until the weedeater batteries wore out. I had dust flying everywhere and I’m almost certain the neighbors slammed shut their windows as the dust cloud slowly drifted north.

All this made me go searching in our junk-filled garage for a yard hat to wear. I’ve always been a bit over-the-top with my hats and have a hang up with sunburnt ears.  And I found a hat…errrr, several (each has its own story too).  Continue reading “Weekender Hats, Weather and a Wee Bit”

Both me hands on me Arse

Cooze I have me a dilemma and two this fine day my dear laddie and lass.

I have no camera as she went in to be cleansed. I’ve done me photograph-o’day before without using me fancy camera, but now that she’s not at at a staff’s reach I feel a wee bit exposed to the brisk Irish breeze. Perhaps I will hand draw me pictures for the next several days, and call them photographs.  Continue reading “Both me hands on me Arse”
